Top Dentist Needed

I’m looking for a forward thinking dentist in Pattaya/Rayong. I’ve checked through several topics on dentists in Pattaya and best recommendations so far appear to be Bangkok/Pattaya, about which there are conflicting opinions, generally that the work is good, overpiced and possibly not always necessary and Kittipoj Clinic (117/79 South Pattaya Road, Tel 038 723138), however this recommendation was almost 2 years ago, so have things changed?

I’m looking for an exceptional dentist - not just one that’s good, at a good price. I haven’t been to a dentist for over 10 years (probably 15, but I’d rather not think about it) and need to have some work and cleaning done, a filling falling out recently has spurred me into action. I am going to have the remaining amalgam in this tooth removed and replacement with a white filling, so I need a dentist who specialises in amalgam removal, particularly as I have several other teeth needing some attention and will be replacing the amalgam in these as well. I’d also like to find a dentist that doesn’t use a conventional drill, but one of the newer pressure (water/air?) type - this is because I hate the sound of conventional drill, the burning smell and the fact that it is more likely to crack a delicate tooth. I believe there are also some dentists who clean using pressure systems, rather than the conventional scraping, which would obviously be less painful, but also is able to clean more effectively in crevices.

I’ve found a couple of places recommended in Chiang Mai (www.gracedentalclinic.com and www.dreddyclinic.com) but need to try and get the work done locally, or possibly Bangkok.

I don’t want to spend a fortune, but money is not the prime consideration, it is just a case of finding a dentist able to do this type of work.

Oh and did I mention that I am scared ........ by dental clinics - used to go to a dentist in London that gave valium, brilliant, used to count down from 10 to about 3 and the next thing I knew all the work was done and I was in a state of bliss for the rest of the day, but wouldn’t do that any more, too risky by all accounts.

Hi Patrickq,

Join the club. Also was years without going to a dentist. You know the story: not afraid of a fight but scared to death of a dentist!

Well I went to Phyathai Hospital in Sciracha - I had 4 extractions and 3 implants - all at the one time. They gave me a general anesthetic – I woke up and felt absolutely no pain or discomfort at all.

There is a specialist there – a woman the best dentist I have experienced. Her name is Paweenwan Suwannakate – she is just great. (Wisper – don’t tell anyone but prices in Sciracha are a lot less than farang infested Pattaya!).

Phyathai have a Scotish guy acting as “International Relations Officer” and translator – his name is Gavin and his number is 09 750 0293. Tell him who you need and he will look after you.

Honestly I know how you feel – but these guys are really good.

Will you also require airmiles?

Seriously, think you will be struggling, I never could find a Denist that considers amalgam fillings are anything but good, and certainly no one who thinks special care is required removing them.

Good Luck.

Sounds to me like you'd better go to Bangkok Pattaya. You need so much doing, that they won't have to dream up additional treatment. Seriously though, my friend went there the other day and raved about them. Just ask for all the treatment put in writing in advance. Apparently this is a good trick, as they don't want to be found out inventing treatment if you take their report to another dentist.

There was a recent thread on dentists.

apc dental clinic Soi 5, 038 361657

Dental Care centre 418/13-14 Central Pattaya Rd, 038 720079

East Side of Sukhumvit, next door to 7-11, just before Soi Nernplubwan.

All recommended by members.

Let me know how you get on - my teeth need cleaning and I now can't eat aything too cold or too hot or I have pains shooting through my mouth. But I'm scared to go. :o

Napaporn Dental Clinic O38-429357. Owned by the delicious Dr. Napaporn.

Avoid Dental Café on the Pattaya/Jomtiem road just past Bruno's. Had a cleaning there and she was so rough my teeth hurt for a week.

Thanks, speedy responses, thought I'd have to wait a day or two. It's fairly tricky finding dentists in uk to remove amalgam correctly and unfortunately I can't afford to have it done here in any case, so will bear the pain until I'm back in Thailand. There is a place that specialises in CM, but that's a bit too far for more than one visit. I'll have to look up the ones mentioned to see there expertise in this field when I'm back in LOS, where I gather it is hotter than hot at the moment, will be great not to put on t-shirt, pullover and padded jacket to nip out :-)

I just want to note that Dr. Eddy Bettermann M.D. is not a dental clinic, with our holistic approach, we are doing only the detox program for the heavy metal mecury removing dental programs; be aware merury, like any other heavy metals are very neurotoxic, this means that damange your nerves; Dr. Eddy suggest not than 2 or 3 more silver fillings (mercury) to remove per month, because it's so toxic for your body; some of our patients making more then 5 some 10 per month and getting suicidal; we highly recommend to combine this kind of dental work with chelation.

I can highly recommend the dentalhospitalbangkok.....they are located on sukhumvit 49 in Bangkok. I have been to see Dr. Sirivimol a few times and she is an operative dentist that specializes in fillings and does only that. She has been trained in the USA and does great work. If your problems go beyond that there are other qualified dentists there to help you. If you search the boards here you will find this place gets great reviews from everyone. It isnt cheap but it is very good. My father is a dentist so I am very picky about where I go and do know good work.
