Thai-Malaysian Rubber City in the pipeline

BANGKOK: -- Thailand and Malaysia agree to create the "Rubber City" along their border, to boost the rubber prices.

Commerce Minister Niwatthumrong Boonsongpaisan said on Wednesday that after a discussion with Mustapa Mohamed, Malaysia’s minister of International Trade and Industry, both agreed to strengthen their cooperation in trade and investment particularly in the areas that shared strength is obvious like Halal food and rubber.

"Malaysia proposed the establishment of the Rubber City along the border, for the mutual benefits of both countries. We have surveyed the potential sites for the city.

If this cooperation succeeds, the rubber industry of both countries will prosper and this will lift the rubber prices," Niwatthumrong said.

This may prove to involve another pipeline that will be tapped and most of the proceeds siphoned off. With all the farm product, Thailand has in storage (we are told) all of which have a shelf life which is reaching it 'use by date', the time/cost to build a city or another cartel may be a bit longer than the "short time" paid for.
