land border non-visa entry question

Featured Replies

Just checking, am I correct that an exit ticket from Thailand is not needed for a two-week non-visa entry by land? That that is only required for non-visa entry by air, and by the airline? I AM leaving but do not yet have a confirmed departure date. Heading to the border at 4:30 am tomorrow, I've not done one of these before. Always had visa entry.

If I need to book a ticket out I'd like to know tonight so I can avoid a problem returning. From what I picked up on another recent question, it's the airlines that have the exit-ticket requirement, not Thai immigration, but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks.

It's not really the airlines, they are (sometimes) enforcing the rules that immigration themselves set but do not (often) follow. I have done non-visa land entries and was not asked for onwards travel, but only once or twice over a number of years. Most likely you'll be fine but there must be others doing this regularly who can be more accurate with their advice.

You do not need a ticket at a border crossing for an 15 day visa exempt entry.
