adweb00 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 So after spending all afternoon bashing my head against a wall am hoping someone may be able to help. Am trying to find some medicine for my young son in Australia is known as Phenergan. The main ingredient by what I can see is promethazine. However can buy growth hormone or steroids but not 1 pharmacy could help or give me any ideas ha ha Any help much appreciated
Sceptict11 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Promethazine = Phenergan ............. Available in Thailand but only as an injectable medication Maybe a stupid question but if your young son is in Australia why not just have him taken to a GP who will prescribe any medication required? edit ! Correction of detail

Thanks for your help
Sceptict11 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Sorry cannot make any recommendation for a paediatric medication on an open forum. You can ask a Pharmacist who will check in the Mims handbook which is available in all Pharmacies

Sheryl Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 What is it being used for? As that would influence suggestions for similiar drugs. Phenergan is used for several different hings e,.g. nausea, itching, motion sickness....

Suspecting why the medication was being sought was my reason for not assisting with identifying an alternative.
Sheryl Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Yes, this is not an appropriate use. If the child is so tense or hyperactive that sedation is genuinely needed then a thorough investigation of the cause is called for. If it is just normal child stuff...basically you just have to live with it. Scheduling play that is very physically active earlier in the evening or late afternoon may help tire the kid out so that s/he falls asleep more easily. 1

Not trying to sedate him and play a bit hard being 2 months! My mum and the millions of others that have used it do so as it works. The keyboard warrior drug police have made there points clear
Sceptict11 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 You clearly did not read the link which I provided. This medication has done harm to many children and bought death to some. Phenergan should never under any circumstance be given to a child under the age of two which is probably why it cannot be obtained in Australia. You have received good advise here and your abusive "keyboard warrior" comment is inappropriate. If there is a concern about the baby his GP should be consulted . 1
Sheryl Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Yes, it is completely unsafe for a two month old. You'd be told the same in Australia. Nor is there anything else you can safely give a 2 month old at home for sedation. Nobody gets much sleep with a 2 month old baby around, it is something you have to live with and will improve as he ages. If the baby is really unusually fussy then consult a pediatrician as there could be something wrong, e.g. an ear infection or other problem making the baby cry. 1
