Shoeboat
I'm considering sending my son to a boarding school in Asia, most likely Bangkok as his mother is Thai. I don't know if I am putting the wrong thing into Google but it isn't coming up with much. Rather than visit all the boarding schools I want to visit an agent who can answer all my questions and recommend a shortlist of places to visit when I am next over. Does anyone know of any such agencies in the capital?
apiwan
How much you want to spend ? Top is a bout £25/30 K per year. Cheaper out town a bit about £5 K per year. More info would be nice. Shoeboat
I'm just after a list of agencies, not the schools themselves. I have heard good things about a few of them, including Harrow. I will only have a couple of days there so I just want to go through an agent.
rayongchelsea
Most educational agencies primarily advise about study abroad. Europe us Canada oz etc. I can't think of an agency that deals with local or even other parts of Asia. Plus the kid will have to take an entrance exam, there maybe waiting lists etc..for the boarding school even if successful.
Shoeboat
Okay thankyou, I found a list of agencies in Thailand. I assume they all deal with boarding schools in the west. Cheers SB
flyingdoc
Try Shrewsbury School. Very good results.
DGIE
try Wells International School. but they have screening test there. If your son cannot pass, they will ask you to bring him first to another international school then come back when your son is capable of passing their screening.. Thai at Heart
If you have the money, I wouldn't consider Thailand for boarding school. It's a poor imitation. New Zealand, Australia, UK or south Africa much much better bet.
rayongchelsea
Agree. But week-ends at home are important if the parents in future reside here and also the consideration in the speaking, reading and writing of Thai.
