I knew of a guy doing this years ago.

He seemed to have a constant supply of students as he spoke Japanese and had experience teaching in Japan.

I have spent the past 4 years teaching in Japan and it sounds appealing to me to do the same thing.

Can anybody give me any advice on if this is a viable option.

Are there still plenty of Japanese living in BKK?

Are there many people doing this?

Being a private tutor, what about Visas? - Is tutoring on an ED visa risky?

Thanks for any replies.

working on anything except a Non-B or Non-O visa is risky...but much less risky in Thailand than in, say, Korea where the private-tutoring-schools have a lot of political clout.

So, as long as u keep things low-key, you'll likely have no troubles (as there are no "Tutoring Police" specifically trolling BKK).

(If you tutor behind closed doors rather than at a Coffee SHop, then the risk is likely very close to zer0)

Best of luck SomTum,
