pritch84
I'm debating setting up a business with an older gentlemen. He has a tax number as he worked here a lot of years ago for some big companys. Hes been here 20 years. We are proposing I take the work permit and he simply works and if requested flashes his tax id card to appease officials. Does this sound legitimate? Thanks
ubonjoe
A tax ID will not serve as a work permit. He needs a work permit.
pritch84
ok thanks! :/ so is that majorly expensive to get 2 work permits compared to 1? ive been quoted approx 33 for business registration and wp for just me.
digitalchromakey
Simple answer - No. A tax code alone means nothing, if your older employee is a foreigner then the old tax code card will not help at all if he is asked to show a work permit. ubonjoe
A work permit requires 4 Thai employees and an additional 2 million baht of registered. The work permit costs 3000 baht for a year. I can't tell you what a lawyer will charge you.
pritch84
But for 2 work permits? How much more expensive is it likely to get? 34 approx for business registration and 1 work permit so anyone got a clue how much for reg and 2 wp? Work Permits each cost 3,100 for one year, but the are 'hidden' costs like the charge for extra capitalisation of 2 million THB and so on.
pritch84
but I dont actually need 2 million baht extra right? Just a few extra setup fees? So is it feasable to get this setup on less than 50k baht for example?

So is it feasable to get this setup on less than 50k baht for example? Correct, but I have no idea what your accountant/lawyer/agent will charge, but for sure it will be more than the cost price. The actual government cost to register an extra 2 million of capitalisation at start up is around 12,000 THB.
