November 2, 201312 yr Google is selling it's Chomecast Stick at the moment for 35$ 1090 THB - root it. (look along xda developers) and you have the cheapest wire fee connection you can think of, to your TV. Way more cheap than wireless HDMI. Same quality. Hulu does not work here anyway unless u r use a proxy. Edited November 2, 201312 yr by JakeBKK
November 3, 201312 yr Chromecast is pretty slick, particularly if you live in the U.S. Given the challenges - VPN/bandwidth - I find mine to be of limited usefulness here. FWIW, they've just added Pandora so now have Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, YouTube, Play Store and Chrome. I am waiting for the ability to cast off Google Drive, which is apparently set to be available soon.
November 4, 201312 yr And give us hints on how it is used by the local expats. Interesting little toy.
November 4, 201312 yr Applications are limited given the need for a VPN to access some of the interesting premium services, and a lack of bandwidth. So you're not going to cast NetFlix in HD here. In the U.S. this device is fantastic, here meh. I use mine to cast YouTube, from my Android phone, tablet and iPad. YouTube casts fine/easily here in HD, which is pretty cool.
November 5, 201312 yr Where is it available in Phuket? Or mailorder? They have them here, but more the 35USD! http://www.lazada.co.th/google-chromecast-137181.html?recomReferer=pdv%2Fpdv_rec
November 5, 201312 yr Here is a review of it. Currently, it appears that your device is a remote control only. It does not duplicate your phone's screen to the tv, as allshare does. Anyways, this video is pretty simple to understand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK4u6wm-HIk&feature=player_embedded
November 6, 201312 yr I think even with my lousy connection this thing is a buy. Can this stream movies from my pc to my tv? Is this wireless HDMI?
