Master Chief
are we losing all the prestine and romantic on the beach eating places? to follow the gov regulations, they do not allow any buildings or stalls to be setup at beaches anymore. left is to go to a permited diner and sit there in an orderly an proper fashion. No more re-adjusting your chair, taking of our shoes and feel the soft touch from the sand and hear the waves rolling in. Is paradise getting killed with regulations and predjudism ? Patong Bob
Are you in Patong ? After the tsunami it was announced that no restaurants would be allowed on the beach, but they were all rebuilt and re-opened anyway. Try Sabai Beach restaurant ( on the beach at the end of Sawadirak Road). You can sit on the sand there.

Jingjok
There are a few places at Nai Yang beach in the NW corner of the island, near the airport. No 'master chefs' work there but the food is OK, and the sand, as you require, pleasant between the toes.
