That's fine -- but her explanations sometimes loses something in the translation.

Assume you are speaking of that little girl a few years back. Very sad.

If your monthly budget is anything to go by, Thais are not the only ones!!

I tried to watch some of it to improve my listening comprehension, but then what i understood gave me headache.

The storylines, the constant yelling, the everyone is richer than god and those plastic face actors make we want to throw something at my TV after 10 minutes.

It´s not worth to watch any of these series IMHO. Some of them actually started with a good idea but then got ruined by the same things everyone complained about. I thought "kuuh gum" had potential, it was about the japanese in Thailand during the war.

If you really want to watch then you can try youtube. There are some series with fan made subtitles, they get removed after a while due to copyright violations.

Someone has money and power, they abuse it and their staff, someone is jealous of it, so plots to take it off them,

in the meantime.......

The poor villager guy and cook,s son rapes the hi - so daughter, who is in love with the house maids son, only to discover later that the maids son is her brother, because Mr rich & powerful raped the house maid.

The maids husband never knew so now he's planning revenge but later he discovers from the ghost of mr rich & powerfuls mother that he is in fact is his brother and she gave him away because she was too poor to look after him.

The dwarf, now he works the garden, thats why all the hedges are so low and only the bottom branches are trimmed on the trees, he buried Mr rich & powerfuls 1st wife after the snake incident and has been blackmailing mr rich & powerful ever since.

What mr rich & powerful didnt know was that his first wife had a twin sister, who he thinks is ghost but who is now planning her revenge too. They all converge to murder Mr rich & powerful and fight over who gets what.

So, its really a reflection of Thai life, you have alot of inter breeding, jealousy, violence, rape, ghosts, traditions, power, corruption and greed.

What more could you possibly want ? ?..........all thats missing is the gullable ferang ! Who paid way too much sinsod to mr rich & powerfuls parents to marry his hooker sister that gave him his start in buying votes for politics and achieve the mr rich & powerful status.

So after all, it was the Ferang that caused it all by being here !

Don't forget that it is often the poor Burmese maid that gets a good thrashing by the Lady of the Manor too yet it is often the poor maid who is the honest one. Too much nagging goes on too to add to the brilliant description given by HeijoshinCool (who maybe watches far too much of these soaps ).

Or the white-skinned, stunningly handsome, perfectly coiffed bloke who for some reason lives out in the boonies working on a farm with the hillbillies.

The daytime Korean soaps dubbed in Thai are a bit less hysterical. But for the Thai ones, the girls watching just want to be up on what it is like to be rich and then they would work out the unhappiness part later.

I enjoyed the one with the nasty oil magnate who got shot - but it turned out that it was all a dream.
