Multiple Visa ED and expiration of WP

Featured Replies

Hi,

I got a multiple-entry Visa non B in France for an internship here in Bangkok, the company provided me a WP. Last month i finished my internship and i guessed that they cancelled my WP. My company told me my visa non ED is still valid so that I can stay here until the visa expires because the visa is separated with WP. But as I was planning to do a visa run to extend my visa, i read on a visa run services website the following sentence :

" Non-Immigrant Visa Type “B” with Work Permit and you resign before expiration or it expires, you must cancel the visa at Thai Immigration before you leave Thailand. You will not be able to leave without the cancellation stamp." Then i have read trhough this forum that if you don't cancel your visa after the cancellation of your WP, u will get into trouble. So now i'm very confused and worry a lot.

However i did a domestic flight after my internship ended and they told me nothing at the immigration. What is the truth? Am I in overstay or is my visa still valid even though my WP has been cancelled?

Thank you so much for your Help

If you have a valid visa it does not end with the job.

An extension of stay from immigration does end with the job.

@ubonjoe Ok many thanks for your feedback!

First off, do you have a non-B or an ED visa? I can't see how you could have been issued a WP on an ED visa.

If it was indeed a Non-B visa, you need to go to immigration to cancel it.

Also, there is no immigration check for domestic flights.

You do not need to cancel a visa because it will remain valid. Immigration cannot cancel visas unless the visa was illegally obtained.

Immigration only cancels extensions of stay.

This is indeed an non-immigrant ED. This is the relevant visa for doing an internship as well since I am still student. And all the interns are supposed to get a WP if the company offer you a monthly salary but very few companies even know this point !

Anyway I guess there shouldn't be a problem with the immigration when doing a visa run or if i go abroad since it's not an extension of visa but a multiple-entry visa issued once abroad.

As said no problem, each new entry prior to visa expiration (use before) date will get a new 90 day allowed entry.
