KelCastro
My partner and I are looking to move up north from BKK. We are looking to rent a house but all the online ads seem well over-priced and no one replies to emails. We're thinking of going up and renting a bike to drive around for ourselves, but ideally we'd like to have some places to see already set. We're looking for a free-standing home, fully or partially furnished. Bedroom and bathroom numbers don't matter much. Ideally a motorbike ride from the city... Ideally no more than 5000-6000 baht. Thanks in advance for your help! Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Chicog
General consensus seems to be get a Thai friend and drive around and look for "For Rent" signs, and negotiate directly with the owner. Also visit the place at several times of the day and week to make sure there aren't any chronic noise problems.
kalbo123
5000-6000 does not get you anything close to the city that is livable. Maybe an apartment but only the studio kind. goodluck
VerbalKint
A free-standing home, close to the city for 5-6K baht ? I am afraid you have slightly unrealistic expectations, or the [0] on your keyboard doesn't work properly.
BB1955
I agree ideally you need to expect to pay more than 6000 a month for anything fit to live in even a decent ways from the city ... You might look long and hard to find something ...

Bedroom, living room, kitchen. or 2 bedroom house with garden about 10Km from the center. Edited November 26, 2013 by FiftyTwo

I paid 12,500 for a huge 2 story house inside the moat for years ... loved it there.
