sirineou
KHON KAEN ― Ten people were killed and one other was seriously injured after an 18-wheel trailer truck hit a motorcycle and ploughed into a loaded e-tan farmers' truck in Waeng Noi district on Sunday morning. The accident occurred on the Waeng Noi-Pol Road between the 20th and 21st kilometre markers when the motorcycle ridden at high speed by a 20 year-old man with a pillion passenger of the same age was overtaking the e-tan which carried nine people. The rider failed to get back to the left lane and slammed into the approaching 18-wheel trailer truck loaded with gravel. After hitting the motorcycle, the truck, driven by Pongthana Boon-aree, 35, from Buri Ram, veered to the opposite lane and swept the e-tan off the road before it overturned. Police arrested Mr Pongthana after the accident. Police said only one person on board the e-tan, Kampang Soongkang, 42, survived the horrific crash. He is in a critical condition.
