We are six brit squaddies going to pattaya on 7 aug for 19 nights. Staying at the penthouse hotel in a patpong 2 room and getting the limo service from bangkok.( has anyone used this before) Can anyone give us a good steer on the best bars and best places to go and any other tips about pattaya would be good.

Cheers

OK its Pattayaland 2 not Patpong 2

Penthouse is OK for the experience but otherwise I would avoid at all costs - check the amount of extra's they charge you from mini-bar and elsewhere.

For a good eyes up about this cross the street directly and go into the Shamrock Bar -[and was told] just 2 weeks ago about one guy being charged 1400THB for mini-bar for 1 night - when he protested they wiped it immediately.

The in-house go go is a rip off too.

Come out of the hotel and while facing the Shamrock (great beer bar with no hassles and no girls) and look diagonally left and you will see the Classroom Go Go - go in there and you will see many many squaddies and marines have gone before you - I am sure they will point you in the right direction.

This board is not really about nightlife so PM me if you want more as its not really done to post it here

Check out the HOT AND COLD BAR on Soi Yamoto. Get there around 2145 hrs. and hang around for the show.

Lots of good cheap accomodation in Pattaya if you want to conserve some cash.

Don't bargain with the taxi trucks going up and down the street, hop on and push the button in the roof when you want to stop, hand the guy 10 baht. If you are with a girl have her pay it may be cheaper.

If you want to chow down for cheap check out some of the "all you can eat" buffet breakfasts and dinners offered at the Lek Hotel or the Apex Hotel.

Have fun and don't over pay for everything!

Keep your hand on your wallet, only take out what you think you will spend (then double it,)

dont get into any scraps with local Thai's, :D

keep a low profile, :D

watch out for ANY shore patrols,

DONT eventhink about ANY drugs, (or you MAY end up a guest in the local lockup and all the 'free sex' you could ever want)

use all availible 'protection' if you take a 'guest' back to your room

DONT pick the best looking 'girl' in the bar, especially if they are on their own :o

ENJOY yourselves, but dont get too pissed (you end up looking a fool, no matter who you are or where

Respect the Royalty of Thailand (as much as the uniform you arer epresenting) :D

Dont brag about being soldiers, just be tourists :D

Just be aware of where you are and dont disgrace yourself or unit/regiment

Just be prepared and have som Imodium ready for next day. Buffets in tropics are the breeding ground for bacteria and the flies find the food faster than you! Get a Thai girl to go with you, then have her check the chicken pieces before you eat them. She'll find and remove the fly eggs. (happened several times to me, no longer go there! :o

Jenny's Star Bar on Walking Street. (highly recommended by Kurgen) :o

My wife loves going there for a last drink on the way home ;-)

We have some great pics.

She giggled like hel_l when there was this six foot shaved headed tattooed English guy talking with us then swapping spit with one of the lovely ladies there.

Hey Pepsi

I thought in a previous post you beat up a mugger in Pattaya.

Is that scrapping with the locals or is that different.

What was it you said , I gave him the bad news ???

Pattaya a fun city for all types and all standards even double standards.

Have a nice day.

Yep, I did give a mugger a good hiding (along with everyone else he met) I never used batons or night sticks (everyone else did)

But that was completely different, he was the attacker, not me, so I dont see how its a double standard. :D

If they are attacked, I would expect them (and anyone else) to protect them self, BUT not to just beat up the locals because they are there :D

The Police were called to my attack, so as far as I was concerned it was in their hands after and no charges were bought against me, even though I told them I had 'given him the good news' no charges were bought against anyone else who gave him a whack or 3

Also, I wasnt looking for trouble, we (my wife and I) had just changed £-TBht and were just going for a wander

I'd personally stay well clear of Penthouse..

I booked my mates into the Eastiny on Soi 7. Brand new, clean nice, friendly and helpful staff and bars on your doorstep. security boxes in your room. Cost 1180 incl breakfast a night and no charge for visitors. My mates stayed there one night but had heard the Penthouse was the place to stay and booked out of Eastiny and into Penthouse without checking the place out first against my advice..

I can't beleive how many deposits they had to pay.. anyway I went up witht hem whilst they were being shown to their rooms... I have never laughed so much in all my life! Iyou were asked to imagine the seediest rooms you could think of they wouldn't come close to how bad these rooms were. Mirrored ceilings, 24hr porn coming thru on the TV, lap dancing pole in the bedroom, lapdancing pole in the bathroom and a freaking swing in the room too!!!! And the room was decorated in bright yellows, reds and greens.. great for when you have a hangover...and the rooms didn't smell too great either. The security guy at the main entrance was nice enough and gave you a salute whenever you came or left.

If thats your thing fine but make sure you get a receipt for every deposit you pay coz one of my mate's was ripped off for £200 and the manager didn't give a toss when he complained.

Taz...
