Epson Stylus Cx1500

About 6 months ago Tesco Lotus had a promotion selling the Epson Stylus CX1500 multifunction printer quite cheaply, I bought one and maybe you did.

After a certain number of prints the machine stops dead in it’s tracks and an error message comes up:-

“Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life.”

It’s got to do with the catch pads in the back, mine were still clean and white. I contacted Epson customer support who were no help and want about USD$65.00 to inspect and reset the counters.

This sort of bullshit is akin to your car stopping in the middle of a trip because it’s time for an oil change which must be done at the dealers no matter where they may be.

This fix works courtesy of “Dax” on another forum.

you're welcome and "Epson" welcomes you.....(actually I own an HP... I don't trust us Epson dudes)

I case anyone has problem understanding the danm program, here are the steps to clear the reset problem

First of all you must have installed and configured the printer correctly(Epson CX1500). That means that it should have been working fine until suddenly you get and error saying you have parts that need change and the only LED on the printer is the red one ( the green one is OFF )

SO this is what you do:

1. Turn on your printer

2. Dowload the program here :

http://www.savefile.com/files/2537692

3. Unzip the file and run the EXE file named "FT0077_0624.exe"

(with the Kitty Kat image icon)

4. In the upper tabs go to "RD Settings"

5. Double click on option 7, "Dump ROM Data"

6. A new window should open and in the left column look for a

"Protection Counter A" and should read a number above 4

thousand and something.

7. Select that number and DELETE it, and replace with a zero "0"

8. Clik "Ok" at the bottom and another window should open

"SAVE ROM Data Success" click "accept"

9. Click "EXIT" and exit the application

10. Turn the printer OFF the ON and should be ok now

11. Have a hot cup of cocooa and pat yourself in the bak for

saving yourself 65$ bucks!!

Don't touch any other parts of the program unless you know what you're doing. 'cause you can screw up the EEPROMM configuration.

Remember this program only resets the counter on the EEPROMM

and you can do it up to 2 times without having to dissasemble the printer and change the ink pads at the bottom of the printer

after that there's a risk of the waste ink overflowing the compartments and spilling inside the printer.

SAVE THE WHALES.....FEED THE CHILDREN
