This is correct. The job is hard and long hours, but the income is quite good. Remember: these drivers have no qualification or education at all. Many cannot even properly read and write.

My standard motorbike driver makes 15-20k per month as well.

I got into a taxi on Sukhumvit blind as a bat after an all day/night drinking session and asked him to take me to Bangkapi. Within 3 minutes I was fast asleep on the back seat and finally woke an hour later (after lots of yelling and shaking) and I had absolutely no idea where we were so couldn't give him directions, so called my wife and she guided us home. Meter was around the 300 baht mark and I have no idea what I gave him as I couldn't focus. Not really relevant and I have no idea why I am telling this story.
