Who or what is the Royal Thai Air force bombing?

Featured Replies

The noise near the Chiang Mai airport is incredible, added to which the windows are rattling when they drop their bombs.

Anyone know where the bombing range is?

I've never heard the fighter aircraft so loud, as they buzz the roof tops.

No idea but awesome!

Got a video camera?

They are only practicing in case they are needed to control the demonstrators on Monday.

Any Napalm bombs dropped?sad.png

Been hearing the jets go overhead for a few hours now - saw them too on a 7-11 trip across the road. I'm not near enough Wing to see the bombing practise, but must be really entertaining for those that can :)

thats what the noise is,(wondered what was going on) up to date this tv.

Are you sure they were dropping bombs? There was a field gun firing blanks as we left.

Kidie day demonstration or practice.

Bombing display normally a drum of kerosene wired with small explosive and detonators. Gunnery display normally time detonators.

Keep calm Mr Mannering!!!!!

CAPTAIN Mainwaring if you please, Corporal Jones!!

Thanks for the explanations. Certainly had me puzzled.

The kids must have enjoyed, for the noise alone.

Wish I had known about it.

We got foot-sore walking ALL around Central Festival....or whatever.

Makes me wonder if there is a site on Thai Visa CM Forum for upcoming events in Chiang Mai.

I seem to miss a lot of these, and a dedicated site would be very convenient.

Yesterday I was headed to Huay Keow Rd turning off Canal Rd, so I could get onto the Super highway, but it was blocked, and so were the U turns up Canal Rd. No idea why, but it was a fair way to the next U turn.

any ideas or am I missing the obvious? wai.gif

Every Children's Day there's a thread where someone asks if the the revolution has come to Chiang Mai because of all the Thai Air Force activity. And someone says "where do you find out about events like this"? In your home country, do they have to make a special announcement that they're going to put up pretty colored lights on many of the houses and public buildings during the second half of December? Some things everyone just knows!
