Filipino Maids / Helpers - Can I get a permit for one ?

Featured Replies

We are moving to BKK soon and my wife wants to bring her helper with us, who is Filipino.

(Yes yes I can hear you all saying get one from Thailand it will be cheaper and easier ) - But my wife want's to try so I won't stand in her way if it means she'll be happier.

So question is can I get a work permit for our helper, and how to go about it. Has anyone done this already or do you know of anyone who has?

The company I will work for can't help because it's a private affair between us and our helper. So the company can't sponsor anything.

Any advise , guidance appreciated.

Cheers

No company = no work permit. Start your own company or look for a local maid.

It is not possible for an individual to obtain a work permit for an employee (other than for those from 3 neighbouring countries).

Which countries? Thailand borders Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia and Laos

Not Malaysia.

And only Thai can employ someone from neighbouring country, no ?

Nope, a couple of foreigners here have reported success.

A off topic post has been removed.

First you need to overcome the immigration in the Phils as they dont let Filipina women simply travel abroad. They turn down many.

If a Thai owns a Thai company, can you actually get a proper work permit for domestic help for this, is it on the list of allowed jobs ?
