Buses still going to Victory Monument during shutdown?

Featured Replies

Since the protestors are occupying Victory Monument, I am wondering where all those BMTA buses drop off their passengers now. I'm assuming they let them off before the roundabout in the surrounding streets. Perhaps they still can during the day, but at night when most of the protesters arrive, this may be impossible. I would like to hear from anybody who has taken a bus to Victory this week. I was hoping to still be able to access the Victory BTS station from my usual bus route.

I went to the BMTA site but there were no English route updates that I could find.

It varies at the whim of the protestors but buses do generally still run through Victory monument.

The 3 or 4 innermost lanes around the monument are blocked and barricades are setup along the roads approaching the roundabout but complete closures only seem to occur when they are able to draw a large crowd.

Here's what it looked like yesterday. It is more crowded today. Barricades using tires have been setup on Rathwithi around soi 5 but are only blocking three lanes of traffic. There has also been a barricade on Phaya Thai around Rang Nam. I don't know the situation north and west of the monument.

Thanks for the info. Since the crowds are biggest in the evening, that would be a time not to bother catching a bus from there. But I wonder where they are turning around then since they must still follow the rest of their routes. I would think the weekend would have more people occupying the roundabout also.

I have seen some buses cutting through Rang Nam when the roundabout is blocked. I am sure it depends on the route but I'm afraid I don't know where to find that info.
