BANGKOK: -- Security guards, soldiers and EOD police uncovered a number of weapon inside a room of a deserted building near the scene where a hand grenade was thrown from.

Disassembled guns of several types were among the weapon uncovered. The weapon was found contained in a bag hanged in the narrow room.

The weapon includes gun barrels, knives, and break-down gun parts.

Four radio transmitters and a camera were on the floor, a security guard of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee said.

Beret hats were also abandoned on the floor. The beret carries a sign of a special attack force unit, he said.

The gun barrels, guards said, could function if they are assembled. They are contained in a bag but left behind in a hasty manner.

They are believed to belong to the suspects who might involve in the attack of anti-government protesters.

PDRC guards said they called in soldiers to search the building after they spotted four radio transmitters left on the floor.

Afterwards, they jointly searched the building and a narrow room where the weapon was found. Other suspicious objects were also found atop the deserted building.

Although the building was deserted, there was sign that the room inside was used as electricity was connected, and daily life necessities are also found.

Angry crowd is still encircling the building as they wanted to go inside to search other deserted buildings.

Didn't they leave their id cards too?

Maybe some holiday photo snaps too?

So these elite special attack force leave a bunch of personal belongings @ the scene....

Yes, I sometimes leave my wallet in a store but doubt that I would do so if I'd just lobbed a grenade into it. On the other hand, the navy chaps seem to have been caught with their pants down

This is tragic. It is also very suspicious. The attacks against the Governor's and Abhisit's houses were described as being "well planned", but no one got hurt. Then some Navy guys from the south, way out of their asigned area, are on a drug interdiction amongst the protesters, and issued silencers. Now some complete a##hole lobs a grenade at a protest.

It does not add up. Neither side could really benefit from such attacks, unless some one wants to provoke a military coup, or else they are complete morons. Morons cannot launch 'well-planned attacks', as the attacks on Abhisit's father's house and a car park for the Governor are described, and then subsequently lob a grenade from a building where they store arms. The two descriptions completely confound each other. "Uh, we are well planned during the night, but are not well-planned during the day." Uh, duh, what?

To me the information given, piecemeal and sparse at best, is very undetailed and hence sparking uneasy conjecture.

Frankly, from the two types of grenades involved (one from the US, provided to the Thai military, and the other from Russia, after Victor Bout the Russian arms dealer was arrested in 2013) suggests there are two splinter factions...one seeking retaliation against some protesting their version of democracy, and the other seeking to set conditions for a coup, even if they kill a few of their own people in the process.

Two words: this sucks, intrisically and extrinsically.

In a related and new bit of non-news, General Prayuth said on BP that he was afraid that an armed group might be behind sporadic attacks during the protests.

Yuh think?

The question really is: "Who do they work for?" I think both sides have a military arm they cannot control. There is evidence of armed groups fon both sides...one bing militant polytech students, and the other being veteran arsonists

The General, who I respect, only seems interested in one group.....and it's not the peaceful polytech students, each of whom would never harm a fly, even after it bit them

Maybe the only group the General is concerned about planted the silencers on the Navy operatives after they were captured. Yeah, that's the ticket, and they were somehow kidnapped from their posts in the deep south to Bangkok, with VIP cards from the protestors, which they also planted on the patriotic Navy guys....

Yeah...right.

'Till this crap is over, I am changing my avatar.

Are you kidding? It was MEANT to inflame the protests, and ultimately provoke a coup...Suthep's "guards" knew pretty much right where to find the "evidence," and they had to be the ones to find it, they wouldn't let the police into the building...and in the Thai press it was reported that the attackers had been holed up in the building for a while, planning the attack nearby...yet that protest march route was only announced today. It doesn't take too much of a brain to figure out that it was an inside job by Suthep.

Not to mention leaving behind a weapon cache they knew was going to get discovered.

Notice how a red cap was conveniently left on the weapons, just to leave Blue Sky's viewers in no doubt who the assailants are.

What kind of cap is that? It does not look like the red shirt logo.

It's a copy of a copy that's made in China

This horrific, unprovoked and cowardly attack - hurling a grenade onto innocent Thai men and women, walking hand in hand down a street - will only inflame the protests, not quell them.

While I don't discount the possibility - none of you "evidence" there suggests it.

"Sometime" could be a couple of hours, not necessarily days. The news said the army were called in and made the discovery - not the protest guards.

I would think it was fairly obvious from where the grenade was lobbed - it only blew up on one side of the truck, which makes it most likely it was thrown from that side and from above as no one was seen running in, lobbing, and running away.

I do believe there is something out there trying to incite violence - some Red sympathisers have already been caught with respect to Abhisit's house - they may have been stirred into taking action, or may just have done it on their own volition - but then the Governor's place too. Certainly looks like someone is trying to warm this puppy up - just who is open for conjecture at this point - and easiest way to escalate is when both are being played against each other.
