In my experience, the big stores, Lotus, Big C etc observe alcohol sales restrictions, but ask the local 'hole in the wall'and they'll sell you anything they got

Emergency stock bought this morning, if it runs out I will have to hit the Khmer market tomorrow.

Never seen a single time where I couldn't buy booze in Issan. There must be at least half a dozen shops within half a km that have never said no not today.

Only half a dozen ?If I had 1 beer at each shop in my wife's village today I would be pissed. Hey that's a great idea.

I went and bought six cases of beer and a case of Lao Khao for my wife's restaurant at 7am this morning at the local Ma & PA store in the small town near the village where I live, no problems at all. They were in the process of setting up the voting station directly across the street and there were at least two BIB walking around. I actually split a bottle of Leo with the barber next door as we played a game of chess in front of his shop. Others were sitting around watching the "farang" and drinking Lao Khao. I won out of default as he had a customer come. I've never not been able to buy it there. Now the 7-11 is a different story, I think that they have their computer set to reject the bar code on any alcohol except during allowed days and hours!

This will be a big day for her as her "BUS Stop" restaurant is directly across the street from the voting station and she has no intention of not selling beer or whiskey! Many will show up to watch but I'm not sure how many will vote. My wife says that many of the out of towners that normally come to vote because they are registered here are not going to vote this time.

It all gets out of hand, i got dragged around Wat Hopping,at one big Wat i managed to buy tins of Leo from a vendor inside the Wat,went to another ,and had to use the supply from the first Yawn Stop.
