CCTV and Internet connections Ban Chang

Featured Replies

Just wondering if someone has a reliable (cough) Thai tech person who could trouble shoot an existing CCTV system I have at my house in Payoon Beach (Ban Chang)? I have TOT DSL and while it does work sometimes it's constantly going offline and the modem/router needs to get rebooted. Since I don't live in Thailand my lazy brother in law is to busy golfing to help me out on resetting it. So maybe its TOT? I upgraded the modem/router last year as my Thai wife hired someone from Rayong who had it running for a while but it continues to go down. Maybe a new DVR or something...Anyway need help.

Thanks.

Could be the adsl modem overheating.

Better to try some simple diagnostics on your end before 'they' hook you on replacing everything one at a time. I assume you have the router set up with DynamicDNS so it should be easy to see test if the router is online and reachable? Can you ping the address or access remote configuration? If so, then it's not the router, well at least not this time. If you can't reach the router then the line is probably down, and as you say the router needs to be reset.

We used to use a IP power circuit that pinged outside addresses and could power cycle the line when they were unreachable.

Something like this: Low-Cost Remote Power Reboot Switch, though you might not consider $200 low cost.
