wowpow
Quite a numb er of gay sites have been 'blocked' in thailand by the cyber police. There is no notification they just block. Sawatdee Gay Forum, Gaybutton - now closed down, Gaypatong and several other sites have been blocked. They can be accessed from outside Thailand or by using a devious route called a proxy. They seem to keep cler of the big boys and gay sites on Yahoo and Hotmail and Google are free to access. To be honest I don't think their is any homophobia going on. The Censors office is staffed by young Thais with instructions to block pornography, gambling and anything not in the Interests of the Thai people, As they work through the alphabet I think they have got to G. Weho
Just tried to access gaypatong.com, and it was blocked... i came to thailand to get away from homophobia... looks like i was wrong about the government... they prefer to spend time blocking good and reasonable websites... perhaps they should spend more time fixing corruption and potholes. Homophobia exists in Thailand, they just don't show it so it appears not to exist. Ask around some Chinese-Thai gay men if their families approve and accept. Corruption? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
gaypatong
If you can access the www.gaypatong.com from inside Thailand then try gaypatong.com without www. in the beginning.
jdinasia
websites that are promoting some of the bars and sexpat lifestyles are getting blocked ... it's not homophobia ... the str8 ones are too ... <not saying this is one of those situations>
busgen
Dear forum manager, if this topic has some kind of thread, I'm sorry for that. Please feel free to move the topic into the excisting thread. More and more I encounter (without asking) the ict.cyberclean.org page when browsing the internet. For a lot of websites I understand the interference of ict.cyberclean.org, but more and more decent gaysites are hit. Take for example www.gaythailand.com, what is wrong with this site? If I browse for similar female sites and look into a lot of open wounds as I call the female genitals, there is minimal interference.
penzman
Let's just say they sort of have no idea what they're doing. I was watching some funny videos, car chases, crazy stunts on dumpalink and they also have videos of sexy girls dancing on there. No problem viewing any of the videos on there or any of their 400 or so pages of content but if I tried to use their search function, it was blocked by the cyber patrol. PeaceBlondie
busgen, thanks for asking. Moved to, and merged with, the April thread, which is now slightly renamed.
Guest endure
If I browse for similar female sites and look into a lot of open wounds as I call the female genitals, there is minimal interference. I should hope so too. Not the kind of thing your average gayboy would want to interfere with (OK, that's vulgar - I'm a very vulgar person )
Weho
I just tried to access gaypatong.com, got a message from "cyberinspector"... i don't think there is gambling on that site, and I've never seen anything there remotely close to "pornography". puh-leese. Barney_the_Dinosaur
Quick - someone hide the 'lube'. When I was young ....'gay' was an unblighted term, as in 'what a gay day'. Now it has been debased and become a source of tittering, in much the same way as other formerly innocent terminology eg, 'Ooh, I'm coming over all queer, Mum." People should conceal their titters.
