February 6, 201412 yr Popular Post So wife and I got there early enough before the crowd (10:45). I was on my second helping, she was on her first. Her face turns white and says she wants to vomit. One female staff member saw her and asked her if she was ok? She could not talk. Anyways, 3 cm worm in her salad, waving at her. Staff apologizes (wow!) and takes her plate to the manager (same guy for 10 years). He comes back, apologizes and asks from which salad was it from. He goes with staff and removes 2 or 3 containers from the bar. Comes back and tells us that lunch is free. Should have ordered the USDA steak!! Great service and commendable to have apologized.
February 6, 201412 yr Wow! Unseen in Thailand! Nice to know someone has some clue of customer service. At least we know the salad is fresh!
February 7, 201412 yr Popular Post That is what is lacking, not just in Thailand, but in SE Asia in general: an honest excuse and dealing with the matter. I have been in the hospitality business for 30 years and I always tell my staff that. yes. shit can happen. How you deal with it is what leaves the impression. Standing order in the hotel I work in: no guest walks out of the hotel with a complaint unaddressed.
February 7, 201412 yr I am usually quick off the mark to criticise, what I consider to be, the poor standards of service in Thailand. Great to see someone proving me wrong and showing that they do understand what service is all about. The manager's efforts have been rewarded by your recognition and this thread has now become a great advert for Sizzler in Phuket. (note: I would like you to take your worm to Pattaya and see what happens there )
February 8, 201412 yr Yes. Thats got me confused, how could the manager have been working there for 10yrs?
February 8, 201412 yr Author Err, you may have not lived here long? He has been managing the place since Central opened Sept or Oct 2004. Ok, so 9.5 years.

February 9, 201412 yr Author Both Index and Central opened at about the same time, 2 or 3 months before the Big Tsu. Anyway, nice guy and most of the time has been very helpful. Better than others.
February 9, 201412 yr Old trick, bring your own bugs and add it to you food when you've had enough! Leaned it in the 1960s when I was working my way throiugh college. We would only use it in a highclass expensive restaurant, not the likes of Sizzler, and only used it once at the same place! Always got evrything "on the house". Not proud of it now, but it did work!
