6 Arrest warrants just issued for serving army sargeants and officers at Military Camp in Kanchanaburi. I'm assuming the names and pics will follow, but for now They have handed them to the Army and asked that the personel be haded over to Police.

Oh dear oh dear. Most media waiting for put some positive spin on this, but it's out there already and even the other western media has it.

Speaks volumes of the ineptitude of the organisation many on the yellow side are screaming out at to come in and rule the country :)

6 serving soldiers (these are trained gun people if they are in the army) Hire a southern hitman, then set off to kill an old man on his doorstep..... And failed to hit the target properly from close range.

7 of them, could not even take out one old man!! They really going to come in and run the country and do battle with red shirts!!!

Ask enough people and I am sure you will find someone.

Just over two years ago we had a burglary at our house. To cut a very long story short the main suspect enjoyed some police protection. Another 'good' policeman offered to put us in touch with a couple of guys who could take care of him.

Prices started at 2k bht for a couple of broken legs.

Seemed like a bargain but I should add we didn't take them up on their deal.

Tried to bargain them down to 1K baht for the job, but they wouldn't go for it, huh???? tongue.png

Yes, it's very odd why the police are so diligent when red shirts are victims. With all the acts of violence - some deadly - against the protestors, no culprits. That includes the protest leader shot dead by a red shirt mob on Bangna and Ko Tee's attack on the protestors on Chang Wattana and his group's probable involvement in the Laksi shootings.

BTW omitted from the Bangkok Post reference by the propaganda peddlers is that a PT party election candidate believed that the attack was over a business conflict. Always selectively printing the 'truth'.

On the other subject mentioned in this thread, there were 2 serious cases from Thaksin's war on drugs. The cases were a child shot dead by the police in Bangkok in an alleged drug-dealer's getaway. I don't know the result of this case - probably dropped by BIB mates.

The second case was in Kalasin where a number of BIB were convicted of murdering a youth and sentenced to death by a court of first instance. Unbelievably they were given bail. Unfinished business with this case.

The vast majority of victim's relatives were far to scared to take any action against extra-judicial killings. It's not hard to understand why ordinary people don't take on the BIB when they can't even resolve cases of killings of their own by a high-profile politician's son and by a Ferrari-driving rich businessman.

8000 Baht, pay peanuts you get monkeys. Ask your wives/gfs what your local hit man works for.

I know life is sometimes cheap here but 8k!!! Barely enough for expenses unless this was a 'labour of love'.

Talking a policeman a while ago he let on that it was possible to hire a hitman for 5k. This is in Kanchanaburi.

I can't help feeling that this wasn't political as surely any self respecting Thai politician would have gone for a better class of gunman? Surely someone desperate enough to kill for 8,000 baht probably has either serious mental problems or is a yaba head and therefore not to be trusted.

Ok lets stop the "Thai Police only arrest yellows" bleating in its tracks

They already arrested quite a few redshirts.

They also got the student murderers from Ramkhang heand which proved there was no third hand and no men in black.

They got the gang who bombed abhisits house. They got some of Koh Tee's gang, including one with a RPG.

Give it a rest, the Police have been trying to prevent attacks on the fascists to prevent the army coming in on the pretext of restoring order.

Why not check some facts before you waste time rambling on about things you know nothing about. <deleted> it was even on Bluesky.... I imagine smile.png

You obviously didn't read the reports that you posted links to.

No red shirts have been arrested except one 'militant' in Pathum Thani that they refuse to say or are unable to find out which side he is on.

Those detained - arrested (I seem to remember that they were let go later) - in 'connection with the grenade attack on Abhisit's house had a very tenuous relationship to that attack.

The students you mention were not red shirts.

The vast majority of violent incidents are 'unresolved' especially the deadly ones.

I know a damn site more that you about the current incidents. Try real facts instead of propaganda.

Oh, did they? The very first thing the police did when they caught the group armed with grenades was to state that they were not connected to the bombing on Abhisit's house.

Nothing else has been said about that group since then and no other group has been named as responsible for that bombing (or any other) since then. I mean, besides Chalerm claiming the bombings are self inflicted.

The man with the RPG was not connected to any group by the police, and again there hasn't been any new information on that case AFAIK.

Don't lecture other people about "facts", you seem to have a very thin grasp on what constitutes a fact and continually post false information.

Maybe I'm just a cynic but.......

Three militarily trained sergaents decide to hire an extra gun, who obviously cannot use the weapon accurately, to accompany them on their assassination job?

Why would they bring on hired help that would only increase the chance of information on the operation leaking out? If they needed more manpower why didn't they use one of the other three 'military personnel' for whom arrest warrants have been approved?

The involvement of military personnel in this kind of attack can not be discounted in Thailand, but this guy's story raises more questions than it answers.

PS. Be careful loading The Nation's web-site. It seems to have been partially hijacked. I'm getting malware re-direct warnings to an Ukrainian IP when accessing it.

Kwanchai has many enemies within the red shirts, his house and land was bought with money from the red shirts intended for the UDD, in addition it was said he was given a large sum to bring red shirts to Bangkok to support the government but the people never came.

Perhaps someone wanted to just frighten him, after 50 bullets should have done the job.

Note he turned down the offer of free treatment at Rama 9 hospital partly owned by Thaksin. I wonder why.

Quite possibly that the heavy police escort provided for him to vote were not paid for the trip. wink.png

Two articles on this in the other newspaper and there are discrepancies between them not to say with this story.

In one article the suspect admits his part and the story goes on to describe the shooting and how Kwanchai was hit many times whereas the second article says he was hit twice which was the original report.

In both articles there are claims of a ' respected elder ' but Udon police would not elaborate but it was suggested the motive may be a business dispute but above they say it may be political.

I suppose Chalerm is the only one who will know the complete truth.

It could be asked when will the BIB learn they are better to say nothing until completely sure of the facts but we know the answer to that ?

The police know the full story, but because it does not point the finger of suspicion to the government opponents, they will not disclose it.

Strange how the police can catch all people committing offenses against red shirt terrorists, yet can never find the attackers of now around 45 incidents against protesters.. hmmmmmmm.

It took the protest guards to do that and one turned out to be a cop.... hmmmmmmm.

Scape goat...............

Well when the PDRC refuse and dont allow the police to investigate this is what they get. Time to let the police do their jobs.. A side point you know full well that this Is true, so why on earth post misinformation?

He did initially turn Thaksin down because he said he'd be safer in Udon. However, he's in Rama 9 now after it was realized he'd need specialist treatment. It wasn't done to frighten him, it was sheer chance he survived. You can't shoot that many bullets at someone from that distance and expect him to survive, surely?

Let's wait and see if anything else comes out, but I think it's unlikely it was done by anyone on the red side. More likely someone wants to put the more hardline red shirt leaders in their place, rumour is Koh Tee had a hit placed on him too. Prayuth won't stage a coup at this point, but it doesn't mean he won't help the PDRC, it just needs to be clandestine. But then again it could be Prawit (tho he'd surely still have to go through Prayuth if the military were involved). For the People's Council to become a reality, these are the people you need to get out of the way first. I'm sure people like Thida, Jatuporn and Nattawud will challenge it, but they've got a lot to lose compared to the likes of Koh Tee.

Court issues arrest warrants for six suspects in Kwanchai murder attempt

2-10-2014-10-44-00-AM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The Udonthani provincial court has issued warrants for the arrest of six civilians and army personnel who the police said are responsible for the shooting of hardcore red-shirt leader Kwanchai Praipana on January 22.

The warrants were sought after interrogation of a gunman, Maduenang Masae, a village defense volunteer arrested in Narathiwat province, confessed to the plot to kill Kwanchai. Investigation later revealed the team of gunmen comprised mostly of soldiers from an army barrack in Kanchanaburi province.

The police have already notified the Army of its finding and are seeking its cooperation to hand over the accused soldiers for interrogations.

The police said the soldiers are wanted on charges of attempted murder, and possession of war weapon.

Police also are looking for two AK 47 assault rifles which were used to shoot Kwanchai and believed they were thrown into a pond in the compound of a house of another suspect in Kasetsomboon district of Chaiyaphum province.
