Great comment! But name one time YL and the PTP have followed any court ruling be it civil, constitutional, or criminal. They could easily use interpol to arrest Suthep. The only laws this gov admin follows are the ones that benefit themselves and their party.

The farmers can do all they want through legal channels but i dont see any help for them until this admin is gone.

Those figures look a bit rubbery, I would have thought the figure would be up around seventy million + , the population of Thailand has been ripped of one way or another with this PTP mob, can you imagine what a 2.2tn loan will do. The gravy train has been derailed for several months ,but should be back on track shortly said DSI Tarit yesterday, as he looked all over Thailand for Suthep. cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Where are the reds through all of this ?

Only thing I have heard is Tida saying the protesting farmers are fake farmers and reds intimidating farmers who were protesting.

You would have thought that as they hold themselves up as the champions of the poor that they would be trying to help the farmers rather than denigrate and threaten them.

It would seem that Suthep is the only one actually doing something to help them.

Like with the amnesty bill and democracy within the house, they have no morals left. Sold them to the highest bidder.

Left their grass roots followers high and dry.

They are as finished as PTP

The reds on here still don't seem to be able to understand, or don't want to, that PT went to the EC to attempt to get them to OK borrowing thereby moving any legal responsibility on the the EC.

The EC wasn't having any part of that and told them that they could borrow if they wanted to but must take any fallout themselves.

The caretaker Govt were not willing to put themselves in a position of being responsible so no money for the farmers.

The banks refused to lend because they could see legal problems for themselves so again no money for the farmers.

They have also tried to sell bonds and tried to sell rice with limited success so still no money for the farmers.

Sure Suthep raising money for the farmers helps him as well as the farmers, it gives him a high profile but it also shows that he is the only one with enough brain to see that helping the farmers can help himself.

Consider if the constituency pollies who have already been elected got together and said we will put in 10,000b each to help the farmers (and they could well afford it) then called for donations how much could they have raised ?

Then if right from the start Tida, instead of having a go at the farmers has had said 'we want to help our brothers the farmers so we will raise money for them' but that would be no good it would be going against the big boss.

It is nice to hear that the farmers are being helped when the government has not done anything other then making the BS statement and lie.

It is a good strategy for Suthep to support the farmers but he is the only who is actually trying to help the farmers.

What is the government doing? Are they going to issue more BS excuses that they have limited capacity and the government office has been blocked so that the delay is inevitable?

I don't know the detail of the lawsuits but can they also sue Yingluck and other key cabinet members in addition to suing the government?

Yingluck can eat well and does not have to worry about money at all but these farmers are so poor and they have no money to buy foods and send their kids to schools.

I don't think things will move quickly but it is a good thing that the farmers made the statement and are standing up.

But the reds are saying that they are fake farmers. The government already admitted that the money has not been paid to the farmers.

Don't the reds want to help the farmers? They are suffering.

These reds are completely brainwashed by the evil and became real <deleted>.

"It would seem that Suthep is the only one actually doing something to help them".

Are you really that naive?

Of course he is using them, just like YL used them to get in power. Everyone is using them.

Suthep wants the government to go for a loan.. the moment they do it they are in legal trouble. The government does want to loan but wants an OK (get out of jail card) They just want others to pay for their mistakes (not paying the farmers earlier, lying about the program, pillaging the program, forging documents, not loaning when they could before dissolving the government).

I feel for all their misdeeds they must be punished.. they could go for the loan help the farmers.. but by doing so they would harm themselves and would be accountable.. now.... guess what is more important to them.

Its not the EC or anyone holding them back.. its them not wanting to take responsibility for their failure and face the consequences.

Good post and tells the true story that a certain crew on here also know to be true but like Yingluck, they refuse to open their eyes and admit reality.

The are like blind fools that are completely in the pocket of Thaksin who would not spit on them if they were on fire, nor any member of their Thai family.

If the PTP had a grain of decency in them, they would just push the envelope and go for the loans and take the consequences. They surely must know they are on the way out anyway, so why not make this a parting gesture. Most of them are deffo going to have to flee justice sooner or later, so just sort out the farmers and f%$%off already.

Alas it seems that they are more willing to live in denial in their death throes and determined to cling on right until the last possible day of power (that they don't really have anymore) and then they will split and leave the farmers in the shit, while they have screwed the billions of the farmer's money for themselves.

The course that they have decided to take is Thaksin's final bridge that will left burning like an inferno in their wake.

This country will literally rise up against anything Shinawatra after that, and force that entire family out of Thailand forever..... So I suppose you can say that it does have its benefits. Just a shame so many have to suffer for it... The farmers will almost certainly see their money, but more likely from the the future Democrat government.

The red shirt movement is another future thorn in this nation's side.

They talk and act like terrorists, and their leaders are nothing more that wannabe Bin Ladens.

They are going to be a big problem soon, and could end up turning the north into another problem like the south.

I suggest whoever gets into power rounds up every leader, every radio broadcaster and every single supporter of the red shirt movement and locks them all up for at least 20 years. Close down all the red radio stations, and make the movement illegal and give it terrorist status.

Any affiliation with the red movement to have a statuary 20 year prison sentence.

That is how much I hate them.

PTP can't wriggle out of this one for the simple reason their whole 2010-onwards existence was based on them being the Agrarian Robin Hood, their whole entire political platform was based on "farmers need representation and empowerment, in the face of corrupt and uncaring elites in the capital." If they had not tied all their horses to this single wagon, they might be able to weather the rice-scandal in a slightly more robust way. Unfortunately they have sunk their only flagship, and the number of people willing to throw them emergency flotation-devices at this point appears to be small.

<snip for brevity>

Come on AV, what are you waiting for? The people are speaking. Let's hear their voice in a democratic election. Thaksin will not be looking forward to it given the massive swing in support to the Democrats. Unprecedented in history. The regime is done. All that remains is the vote. I hope it will happen very soon and both sides accept the results. Then the country can move on.

I assume that what AV is waiting for, apart from some clearer signs about reforms, is for Yingluck to admit that the elections are invalid and to declare a new poll date.

But PTP will do everything they can to avoid new elections. They only function properly in a monopoly situation, which explains why parliament was dissolved and the Feb 2 elections announced so quickly. In fact the Shinawatras have a thing about monopolies. Thaksin's first business venture that turned a profit (ICSI) was a monopoly contract, as was the contract granted to AIS that gave him his billions. No surprise then that the rice scam hinged on creating a monopoly and equally no surprise that it has failed miserably.

And now Abhisit spells out what his conditions are, and they don't seem unreasonable IMO, for participating in a fresh new election.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/703587-abhisit-sets-conditions-for-contesting-election/

But will caretaker-PM Yingluck be permitted to accept his terms ?

Or will PTP-policy remain 'hanging onto power at all costs', as advised from Dubai ?

"They could easily use interpol to arrest Suthep."

Why the need to use Interpol, when Suthep is still here in Thailand, indeed Chalerm & Tarit have been repeatedly promising to arrest him for ages now, without it actually happening ?

It reminds me of the modern major-general, in 'The Pirates of Penzance', repeatedly pointing out "Yes, but you don't go !", while the noble band of constables march & sing but don't actually set out to capture the pirates ! laugh.png

That one ended happily, let's hope this drama does, too.

this is the most stupid idea yet .........people are on the verge of killing themselves and theyre going to

let suthep waste all the donation money employing lawyers to take on thousands of court cases against the govt

which the govt will defend with their own lawyers paid from taxpayers money .......

gives suthep the perfect excuse to skim more donation money into his pocket too and later claim he used it to pay

Can we get a ruling that forces the government to pay, thus letting the government borrow the money as a legal obligation the courts imposed on them?

It sounds like a route that would eliminate the EC block on bond issues. I see it's a PDRC lawyer front, but nevertheless, one that actually might serve a useful purpose if the ruling requires government pay.

Plus it establishes the rice pledge as legally enforced government debt, which gives

the farmers an asset to borrow against.

Why doesn't the government sell the rice it has in stock?

1st nobody wants to buy it without guarantee it is not myanmar rice.

2nd if abd when they sell it the world will know how much has been skimmed.

and figure out how much has been stolen ........or let it get plundered and blame suthep for the losses

This issue is a legal one through and through, both from the standpoint of the illegal practices of the administration in the administering of the rice scandal, and from the farmers who were the victims of it. Recourse through the courts was inevitable but also the most peaceful solution. The Yingluck administration has left the farmers with no other recourse. And trying to get the farmers to stand down hasn't worked. As long as the PDRC can directly tie their cause and lend their financial support to this issue will be to the degree that they can keep their coalition alive. This is not about how many people are on the street. It's about what they are saying. When the various courts hear these issues they will not calculate the power of argument through the masses they inspire. They will weigh the power of argument through the facts. And the facts are compelling.

Presumably they could just pay any fine from the normal budget and wouldn't need to go through the agricultural bank?

Turn your hate into something useful. Like finding a way to show the red supporters the true colors of their leaders.

Some if these reds are just ignorant to what their leaders are really doing. Fed daily by red radio and tv without a clue how to discern fact from fiction.

Find a way to make them see. Violence will not help. Protesting will not help. Facts and the truth are the only path. Eventually they will see the lies to the extant that they will ne forced to see the light.

So far there is not a shed of evidence to support your idea that Suthep is skimming money. In fact the reports show he is largely in debt whereas almost every single PTP leader has no debt and millions if baht in assets.

More of a chance the reds are skimming than Suthep.

The only one who is naive is apparently you. All the protesting is about this as well as many other criminal acts that this government has committed. Without the protesters, these government would be robbing the people blind. Suthep is not using anyone, the one using the farmers are people like you and the YS administration. Trying to use the farmer's plight even when they are down, you want to knock them down some more by borrowing against their future and the future of Thailand, Money is there in the corrupt politicians hands, as it has been asserted in the beginning of the protest. Everyone see the corruption accept for the red shirt politicians. Again using people and manipulating people to support them. Now the truth comes out. YS won't even come out to talk personally with the farmers, only from a far. That is how much she cares for anyone. As long as her kid has enough rice, she can careless about anyone else. Her true colors shows. Disgusting!

Really. In that case I am content in my naivety about the current political situation and the current relationship between suthep and the farmers. The farmers did not want anything to do with suthep only 4 days ago.

Anti-government protesters in Thailand's capital collected money for farmers on Friday, seeking to capitalise on discontent in rural areas at the state's failure to pay for rice bought under a controversial subsidy scheme.

Hundreds of farmers rallied at the Commerce Ministry but Prasit Boonchoey, head of the Thai Rice Farmers Association, denied they were backing anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban."This is a farmers' problem and we won't be joining Suthep's protest. We are just calling for what is ours, which is the money the government should pay us," he told Reuters.

Indeed. Of course, Robby nz failed to note the red shirt leaders changed tack since the initial claim about 'fake farmers'. Now Thida is saying she sympathizes with the farmers, but the fault lies with the banks, the PDRC and the EC. Neither Suthep's nor the red response is adequate imo. It's obvious the PDRC are using the farmers, pretty much the same people they constantly disparage as 'lacking education about politics' and that Suthep was happy to shoot in 2010 to cling to power. Yet the red shirts should acknowledge the govt failed to secure the money before house dissolution. It was Kittirat's responsibility. Then they should also acknowledge the obvious failings and corruption and the genuine suffering of those who haven't been paid.

That's if you're talking about justice. If we're talking about realpolitik, I'd be doing the same as both sides are currently doing I guess.

Wow! You have proof Suthep shot people in 2010? Have you shared this with the authorities prior to his trial? Or do you consider yourself above the need for trials and evidence to find someone guilty? The sort of society a Shin supporter likes," we right - you wrong, we good - you bad"?

The caretaker government got themselves into this mess. Blaming anyone else is nonsense. Just the usual spin and lies PTP always use. They have never learnt that they cannot do just as they please and fool all the people all the time.

More and more are wakening up to the reality of Thaksin's proxy party.

No, not naive just deceptive.

The court fees to be paid to the courts by the PDRC are part of public donations received by the PDRC from its fund-raising marches since the weekend.

A farmer's leader denied they were backing Suthep. That's true but they are willing to accept money from Suthep to be used in court cases.

The Bangkok post has an article saying Yingluck is telling the farmers the government has the money and they will pay the farmers.

Then it has another article saying that several commercial banks have shown an interest in loaning the government money to pay the farmers.

Is there a fib in there. Seems to me the government has already admitted it was OK to twell them if it made people feel good.

Problem being the Thai farmers already know the truth and they know thaty the government is trying despertly to borrow the money. But Yingluck says they have it.

Let us not forget that besides going through all the budget money and falling short they needed less money than the former governments did. did because they were paying the 1997 debt. The PTP transferred that debt to the BOT and pocketed the money.sad.png

So you don't think suthep is using the farmers to try and apply more pressure on the government because everything he has tried up to now is failed.

"It would seem that Suthep is the only one actually doing something to help them".

Are you really that naive?

Seems I'm not that naive after all................

Oh, now that you are beyond naive and just lack the skill in processing the truth. You and the so call Reuters can call it whatever you want to call it. The fact is clear that the protesters came out because they already knew that the government has stolen from the farmers and all of the people of Thailand. They came out to warn the people of Thailand about the questionable illegal activities by this administration. Without them these criminals will rob Thai people blind.

It was just a matter of time the truth will come out. And their you have it, the govt defrauded the people of Thailand as declared by the protesters. Sorry the truth hurts huh? And it's true, the farmers have been lead/lied by people like you and YS government that everything is on the level and no corruption exist. That the G-G deal is almost secured and money from the rice deals would be coming soon. They are not here to join PDRC. They have more important thing to solve, to feed their family. PDRC knows that, but no one is helping the farmers, not even any of the 15 Million Red Shirt supporters out there. Most of the Red Shirt Stronghold got their rice money. They are taken care of and none of any of these capable farmers care about the plight of their own brothers. Not even you would care enough to help them out financially. Just empty talk. Your solution along with the YS administration is to borrow the money to cover for the money that was stolen by YS administration? How does that work any way? Sure doesn't sound democratic to me. I don't think even communist country would be doing that. Is it some kind of a Red Shirt logic? Or maybe simply a logic of a criminal? Oh...naive again...sorry.

For your information, again the truth, if the Rice Scheme is up and up, just sell the rice. There is more than enough money there. They had since October 2013 to do that. The rest of the world is happily selling their rice accept for Thailand. Or are you naive here too?

But at the end, truth again, both PDRC and the Farmers have the same objective, to bring these crooks to justice.

Seems the farmers have something you don't have, and that's enough brains and guts to admit they were wrong and have been blatantly ripped off and lied to by the very government they have been loyal to for years.

It's ok for goons like you who faithfully wave your little red flags in the name of democracy, but when this pack of thieving crooks are all exposed, charged, convicted and thrown in the slammer (except for the ones who get tipped off like Thaksin and flee the country like cowardly dogs) the farmers still have to rebuild their lives and try to survive. You on the other hand will be shamed and without face and will just move on under another stupid name and troll another forum, or maybe even come back to this one as a staunch democrat supporter. You never know, you have done it before !

Either way the farmers are finally waking up and letting PTP know they have had enough of being treated like idiots and anyone who has even half a brain who has read your anal comments know who/what you really are.

Good luck in your next life Cal ! thumbsup.gif
