Police check the Yaris car after the smash.

PHUKET: -- Police yesterday morning (February 10) found a bizarre juxtaposition of items in the back of a car whose driver abandoned it after an epic police chase and crash in Phuket Town.

After the driver and his companion leapt out of the black Toyota Yaris and ran off, officers found two bouquets of red roses, a photo of the driver posing with a gun and another of him with someone they believe is his girlfriend. They also found a pistol.

The incident began when police set up a checkpoint near Soi Pa Hin Nam Sai near Saphan Hin.

As the Nakhon Sri Thammarat-registered Yaris with two men in it approached they waved it down,. But the driver had other ideas and accelerated through the checkpoint.

A motorbike cop gave chase. They sped into Phuket Town, along Montri Rd to the Seng Ho bookstore, where the Yaris driver swerved into Dibuk Rd, then into Thepkrassattri Rd.

Before the car reached the clock tower circle, the motorbike cop overtook it and cut in front. The car screeched to a halt and then reversed abruptly, slamming into another Toyota close behind, driven by a terrified 49-year-old life insurance seller named Natthapat Rattanapan.

Realising he would not be able to drive out of the situation, the driver and passenger jumped out of the Yaris and legged it.

Witnesses described the driver as “skinny and tattooed”, while the passenger was described as overweight.

Officers took the Yaris with its gun and roses cargo to the police station and checked the registration, discovering that it belonged to a Ms Wassana Pakdeekit of Nakhon Sri Thammarat.

They are now attempting to contact her to find out how her car came to be involved in the chase, and to identify the two men in it.

The writer trying to Impress native english speakers with his Bill O'Reiley type of Diction.

Need to use common english when reporting in english.

Such a contrast in styles.

"juxtaposition of items" (over the top use of a rarely used word)

and they "jumped out and legged it" (slang)

Hats off for the copper on the motorbike .

Pretty dangerous to overtake a car and then cut in front .

Ussually I am not on the coppers side , but for this B.I.B. respect

The whole band in that little Honda Jazz?

Those NST plates will get a car pulled over every time in Phuket at a checkpoint with 2 sketchy looking lads inside.

in a related incident, police also sized a car with some rolling stones in the back seat

More importantly, when you want to criticise another person's use of the English language you really have to make sure that your English is spot-on. You're clearly not a native English speaker, even so be careful not to leave yourself open to the ridicule you so richly deserve.

'Whole Band'-------- 'Honda Jazz'-------- Hellooooooo, are you still with us?????

Don't Know about Axel and Slash, by the descriptions it sounds like Laurel & Hardy! (Skinny driver and overweight passenger)

Maybe Erik Estrada has got himself a WP

If you've seen Axl recently he may still be tatooed, but he is far from skinny!!
