What about the French?....wink.png every body in France has a holiday in February! whistling.gif

Many french accents around now, which is normal in February!.... ou la la! smile.png

Many Chinese too, on day tours, (boats and jungle rides) .... the guides don't like them because they don't tip! wai2.gif

1 China

2 S Korea

3 Russia

4 germany

5 UK

Are there any prizes for the correct answer? w00t.gif

Out of these five where would you say they're money goes? In terms of entertainment, accomodation, sight seeing etc?

I beleive the Brits and Australians pump the most money into the local economy, Koreans probably nothing and russians keep the 3256 7/11's on the island in Biz

I do see a lot of Koreans and motorbikes these days but never see one of them in the restaurants i visit.

Also i almost never see Chinese people in the restaurants I frequent. (Mostly western orientated and the 'hole in the wall' Thai establishments.)

So if I had to guess i would think that the Russian and German/France/UK visitors would bring more money in to the local economy than the Asian guest do.

Just a guess.

The Chinese usually comes in tour groups where they'll ship the tourists to designated restaurants etc.

It looks like they prefer to have everything arranged for them and they just follow what's on the program.

Chinese do spend money on rooms, but very little on F&B. Rather than eating in the hotel they stay, they walk out as they prefer local dining and cheap prices. After breakfast they disappear on tours and only return late afternoon. Russians spend well in general, German and French also okay, and yes, UK also not bad.

The top 5 Nationalities who visited Thailand in 2013 are:

1. China

2. Malaysia

3. Russia

4. Japan

5. South Korea

I don't see that many Japanese in Samui and maybe more Germans than South Koreans. So i would say the top 5 Nationalities to visit Samui are:

1. China

2. Malaysia

3. Russia

4. Australia

5. German
