Crime Man Shoots Woman Dead Over Row About Cooking for His Mother
Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A domestic dispute ended in tragedy when a man shot his sister-in-law dead on the steps of her home following a family argument about cooking duties for his mother. The incident occurred on 22 June, in Ban Khlong Mod Daeng, Khlong Lan District, Kamphaeng Phet province. Local police and rescue services were called to the scene after reports of gunfire at a stilted wooden house in Village 3 of Pong Nam Ron subdistrict. Officers found the lifeless body of 53-year-old Mrs Nitaya lying in a pool of blood at the foot of the house’s staircase. She had suffered multiple shotgun wounds to the right arm, chest and left side of her face. A shotgun and two spent shells were recovered at the scene. The alleged shooter, Mr Asia, 42, was arrested at the scene. He was found in an intoxicated and incoherent state. He is the younger brother of the victim’s husband. According to initial police interviews, the shooting followed a heated argument between Mr Asia and his elder brother. The dispute was reportedly sparked by Mr Asia’s anger that the victim had not prepared food for their elderly mother. During the quarrel, the brothers exchanged threats before Mr Asia returned to his nearby home, just 50 metres away, retrieved a shotgun and fired it toward his brother’s home. One of the shots struck Mrs Nitaya, who was standing on the stairs. The victim’s husband, who witnessed the incident, said he had argued with his younger brother over the care of their mother, particularly about his wife not cooking for her. He said the row escalated rapidly, resulting in the fatal attack. The suspect has confessed to the crime, police said. He is being held in custody at Khlong Lan Police Station. He faces charges of homicide and illegal possession of a firearm. Mrs Nitaya’s body has been sent for further forensic examination at Sawanpracharak Hospital in Nakhon Sawan province. Community Dog Rescued from Abandoned Well in Sugarcane Field

The incident occurred near Soi 1 behind Wat Krang Thong Ratburana, Moo 5 in Thung Thong subdistrict. Local villagers alerted the Khun Rattanawut Foundation after hearing desperate cries for help coming from the disused well, which was approximately five metres deep. Rescue personnel arrived swiftly and found a male dog, estimated to be about one year old, visibly frightened and weakened after being stuck for an extended period. The team assessed the situation and carefully lowered a rope with a knotted rescue loop to retrieve the animal. Within a short time, the puppy was successfully lifted to safety, much to the relief of onlookers who had gathered to watch and offer support. In a surprising twist, the villager who had reported the incident approached the rescued dog, only to realise it was his own pet, affectionately named “Chao Boon Khum” (translated as “Lucky Protector”), who had gone missing earlier. Overcome with joy, the man embraced his beloved dog, relieved to have him back safe and sound. The Khun Rattanawut Foundation used the opportunity to remind the public about the dangers posed by open or abandoned wells, especially those lacking protective covers. They urged property owners to take precautions to prevent incidents involving pets, wildlife or children. The foundation also encouraged swift reporting of similar incidents to ensure timely and safe rescues.
