Services to be improved at Lao-Thai friendship bridge

Featured Replies

The first Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge which links Vientiane and Nong Khai in Thailand will increase services to support the Asean Economic Community (AEC) next year.

Deputy Director of the bridge administration, Somlith Phanthachack told Vientiane Times that officials are now developing the border check point area, as well as improving their services to welcome the AEC.

They believe there will be a large increase in transportation at the bridge after Asean nations officially launch the AEC. Before the bridge had only two lanes. Now it has been adjusted to have four lanes.

I've been across that bridge a few times. Four lanes, how does that work?

A story in a newspaper about the same thing says the road instead of bridge and implies it is the road going to the bridge. I think it also means they are adding lanes at the check point.

Hope they're going to fix the Lao side. It's a scrum at 1 window.

Immediate improvement for me : get rid of those stupid newish turnstile gates !
