My connection is sync at 14mbit.

I'll let you get back to your throttling conspiracy.

Yeah yeah you get these numbers 7/24 and your youtube streams non-cached content at 1080p flawlessly. Your ping has to be faster than light in true online if you are not using a proxy, and when you do use a proxy, it is cheating. True online proxy is very unstable but lets you get correct ping times. You think i would not notice did you?

Yes, i secretly work for TOT and im here to post fake results.

You caught me man... rolleyes.gif

Not only singapore but general routing of TOT sucks bigtime. I hate TOT for it.

What kind of ISP routes EUROPE via USA while they have direct Europe lines?

I even routed via Europe to my server in Central USA (Kansas) a few times which is even funnier.

Cat is faster than any other ISP in Thailand. You're making me jealous shariq!

Not true. My UIH leased lines blow CAT out of the water.

We lease lines with 1:1 contention ratio and dedicated International bandwidth.

Right now we're testing a 30/30 (30 down 30 up both domestic and international)

Comparing leased line to consumer grade internet? Why not compare cat leased line to UIH leased line then? They should perform equal or in favor of cat (due to several peering / pop connections)

muratremix - you're right, we should compare leased lines.

You sign up for a CAT leased line with 30/30 domestic and 30/30 international and we'll do some comparisons... :)

In my experience VPN connections can be throttled the same as any other service bah.gif

If VPN is in Europe or USA yes, if in Singapore, in most cases they don't throttle or throttle lesser due to plenty of bandwidth.

However True online started to give me unthrottled connection to San Jose, California location nowadays. I am getting pretty high single connection download speeds, but at prime time it is also throttled.

Posted

Perhaps I mis-spoke

Your local ISP can throttle your connection to the VPN

just as you mention with True :bah:

Nope it doesn't if traffic goes to Singapore.

I just watched Netflix Superhd @ 5800 kbit without a problem tonight (sunday night, prime time) using my singapore digitalocean proxy + us proxy for spoofing usa ip to login netflix.com. It was very easy to do with privoxy proxy installed at my Nas (can be installed in router aswell)

a config like that in privoxy proxy

forward / mydigitaloceanserver:1234

forward .tr uk.server.com:1234

forward .de uk.server.com:1234

forward .nl uk.server.com:1234

forward .th .

forward .hulu.com us.server.com:1234

forward .huluim.com us.server.com:1234

forward .netflix.com us.server.com:1234

forward .geotrust.com us.server.com:1234

So all traffic goes via singapore proxy, selected european domains goes via my UK proxy (3.5 usd/month) and netflix/hulu logins goes via my USA san jose proxy but data streams come from IP address so they are proxied via singapore proxy and they are fast!

It is so fast, it stops downloading stream because buffer is too full, then it continues to stream again.

Posted

Here is an example stream via singapore vps using dns/proxy trick for netflix.

Movie streams at 3000 kbit (max. for web player) and without any problems.

here is a speedtest of cat, i hope you can provide a speedtest of UIH lease line from testmy.net if its really fast internationally i would like to subscribe to it. is it available in sukhumvit, Bangkok?

Is this correct?

Posted (edited)

It seems you are trying to paste squid conf into terminal.

make it this way:

nano /etc/squid/squid.conf

then copy paste that config file

then ctrl + o to save file, ctrl +x to exit from nano text editor.

the rest is same.

If you got no errors when you type "service squid start"

and you see [OK]

then yes, you just need to type your IP and that port into your browser's proxy settings (generally under network / connection part) for setting up proxy.

I realized I made a tiny mistake in commands:

service start squid

it should be

service squid start

also, when you copy config from pastebin, there won't be any 1. 2. 3. number in lines

To do that, click RAW on top of page

or click here: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=4b5TcTGm

it will give you text output.

If you want to set up proxy but you're not sure you can do it yourself, send me a PM first. I can give you my ref. link to digitalocean and set up your proxy after you get your vps node. If you got your digitalocean account already, I can still help (ref link is optional).

If there is no need to edit the file, then simly wget should do the trick.

wget http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=4b5TcTGm -O /tmp/squid.conf

Then move the file to propper location.

I suppose in CentOS systems it at /etc/squid/squid.conf

cp /tmp/squid.conf /etc/squid/squid.conf

For example Ubuntu is using /etc/squid3/squid.conf

cp /tmp/squid.conf /etc/squid3/squid.conf

pm sent

Seems working but only with a few websites others say unable to connect to the proxy server..

service squid start no errors when i enter this.
