Shipping Options

Featured Replies

I'd like to send some things from here in Rayong to Canada. I can't figure out the best (and cheapest) options.

Seems there's a minimum shipment amount of one cubic metre for using a shipping agent to get it there. Nowhere near that much. And with a minimum amount there's a huge price!

I'm not really wanting to use DSL or FedEx, as they're exclusively (I think) air shipments, and therefore more expensive and much faster than I need.

I don't know the sizes and weights that Thai Post will accept, and looking through their website has only confused me.

I'd like to send one package about 117cm X 94 cm X 34 cm, less than 20 kg.

It could be broken into several packages, but the parts would still add up to that total. And the largest part would still be that length and width, although not the depth and weight. Best if they can all be kept in a single bundle.

Any ideas about how I can get this shipped? As I said, slow and cheap is great. No hurry for any of it to arrive.

Take your stuff down to the post office, they'll sort it out for you, sell you the boxes and everything.

Bring duct tape and your protective packing materials and you can get it all done one trip.

Cheapest is surface, takes 2-3 months, no insurance no tracking, inquire about adding those and decide if it's worth the extra.

Do you know what the maximum size is for Thai Post?

As I said, "I'd like to send one package about 117cm X 94 cm X 34 cm, less than 20 kg." (4 ft X 3+ft X 1½ ft)

As it needs prepackaging and wrapping and tieing, although it could be made into separate packages, one would still be that maximum size, although much lighter.

I've got no problem with surface mail as speed is not an element at all, just getting the stuff there.

domestic no problem, international restrictions are smaller

just go down there, one within ten minutes of you right?

Mrs posted her motorcy but only within the country.

Yeah, I managed my motorbike by Thai Post, but that was Bangkok to Rayong - no problem.

Unfortunately, this is international, and the post office is about 5 km from my place. Getting those items down there on the motorbike could be a real hassle without having very good hope of being able to send them.

So take that trip without your stuff and find out the requirements directly from the staff there, buy the boxes if appropriate and that way you know they'll accept it when you do show up.

Or you'll know if you need to use another carrier if you can't break down that one big item into a smaller size.
