Yingluck used state TV to put forth a narrative of lies that was intentionally designed to sow hatred between the farmers and the PDRC before the violent push by Chalerm yesterday. It was unconscionable for her to do that - to pit Thai people against Thai people - especially as it was founded on such a lie. Far from it, the farmers have now become embraced by the protest movement, and have even been the recipients of donations from it, from the very people on the streets that Yingluck chooses to dismiss so summarily with one brush stroke. On the one hand the Yingluck administration condemns " fake farmers " and on the other hand they try to sow hatred among the farmers towards the PDRC, all at the same time of continually dodging their own responsibility for what they have done to the farmers.

Scamper, you need to read a bit more carefully. The money that was donated to Suthep to help the farmers, DID NOT go to the farmers. It was given to attorneys for legal fees encountered to help the farmers. The farmers themselves never got a stang of it.

If some one pays my bills

How can I say I got no nothing

your thinking is a bit warped

payment in many form's is still payment

Excuse me tezzainoz.

As the farmers are really in very bad economic situation, I'd expected that some money for a bowl of noodles, would have been nicer than pay the bill of a lawyer they did NOT ask.

Note: Suthep did not say about he will pay legal fees before collect money, but after did the collection. This should make you think a little...

so any one who gives you financial help

must give you a form in triplicate on pink paper to say what they are giving you, before they do

I remember an old saying

Beggers can not afford to be choosie

Anyone been watching developments in Kiev, Ukraine with the anit-government protests on CNN? Very extensive and detailed coverage with interviews of government officials, protest leaders and Russian/EU leaders, video camera coverage of the streets, analyst panels discussions, comments from US Congressmen and the Executive Branch.

Then CNN turns to Thailand and you see a 1 minute video clip of Suthep's demonstators from an iPhone, a quick comment with a street protester,a few reported words of encouragement for peace, then end of coverage. Even the Thai US Embassy issues a bland standard comment that Thais solve their issues peacefully and avoid violence.

What is happening to Thailand's democracy is toxic to other democratic nations who are distancing themselves from the tragedy that is choking democracy out of the nation's political life. No one wants to say anything that might encourage the insurrection.

You don't get my point... I will try to explain you better.

Farmers are HUNGRY, they are getting SUICIDE because a stupid and criminal policy. And I guess no one has something to object about this.

Then Suthep said "I will collect money to help the farmers". Great! Which kind of help do you expect in such a tragical situation?

If they need food and money for plant new crops, I guessed he gave to them for do the use they better thought (even if it was a symbolical help as seen as 25 millions were almost nothing if distributed to every farmer).

But.. he decided to USE that money for seeking a legal case and pay lawyers for farmer.

It's like you want to collect money for help babies in Uganda, and once you get some amount you spend them for bring to judge the weapon traffickers for steal resources from Uganda poor babies (Just an example eh?)...

And I would not call the farmer beggars...

Having seen more than my share of it in my lifetime, I'm normally not an advocate for violence. But this shit, on BOTH sides has been going on for so long, with no end in sight, I'm tempted to say "kill them all and let God sort them out".

Do you really mean that? Your as bad as all the ones you want to see killed.

Have a look at his avatar. He's probably got a room full of semi-automatics stashed somewhere.

This is funny. My comment has drawn 2 replies, both from "Newbies". One who, if they had read any of my few hundred + comments would be able to recognize sarcastic whit when they see it, and another making assumptions based on a avatar that has absolutely NOTHING to do with guns, but with Bikes.

Some people are just so easy. cheesy.gif.pagespeed.ce.HaOxm9--Zv.gif alt=cheesy.gif width=32 height=20>

At least you got them engaged in the discussion and if they stay interested they may actually learn enough to make better meaningful comments. Keep your wit coming.

Suthep who is so popular in BKK that he has today had to organise and bus in a few thousand from Chomporn and Surathni.

Can't a city of 10 million provide him with more than the 200-300 supporters he is down to when he is not paying for busses?

Suthep should put up and shut up... storm the builiding with his Paid armed thugs and see how long he lasts!!!

lucky for suthep, his audience is mostly of the non-thinking, non educated thais these days. the educated ones longs since bailed out.

Yes you are correct

My Thai wife and her educated friends have returned home

They feel that all they can do, has now been

Yingluck is finished, she just does not know she is dead as yet

It is now all up to the courts

they are prepared to return if needed

so yes you are correct all the non thinking red shirts and many from the south are just protesting for what ever reason they want to,

But Nothing can save the Taskin Government now, and the educated Thais know this

So you're thai wife and her EDUCATED friends have gone home and left it to the uneducated to be cannon fodder. Yes an educated move. Will return/prepared to return if Suthep wins and the danger is over. Sounds like a typical elitists yellow shirt strategy. Don't want to get dirty or if the maid fanning your face is shot and don't have a back up.

during her time at the protest she prepared food and clean up, so as far as not getting he hands dirty you have no idea

she went their as a volunteer and left as a volunteer, during her stay she was always open to you red shirt followers in danger

at no time she she hide behind a computer keyboard like you do

The statement that those who stayed are not educated, came from the original poster

As my wife and friends come from Udon Thani, if you knew any thing about the North you would know they hate the yellow shirts

the protest that Taskin your hero was to get a freedom card

and all she has in life came from her own sweat and tears, ad she has never asked for 1 baht from falang like you

Now with a name like yours

go back to the hen house and regroup you thoughts, and we not need Thai bashers on this site

Fair enough they hate the yellow shirts so they went as a business prospect. Numbers have declined and business is no longer viable. I understand that and understand why they packed up and went home. I am with you my friend.wai.gif I would like my wife to go home also if she was wasting money. 100% agree with you.

We can only wait and see who wins at the end.

For the sake of the Thai people, I hope the right outcome will take place.

Enough killings, enough injuries, time for more constructive and politically mature thinking.

When peaceful revolution is made impossible, violent revolution is made inevitable.

In some cases it is justified.

In the short term the cost is high but in the overall scheme of things the price is cheap. It happened in the United States and they came out OK. I am not commenting one way or the other on their policies but they made out very well in the long run.

This continual protesting here in Thailand has done nothing to help the nation no matter who has won the round. But it can become tiring to the point where the people make it real bloody.

For myself I firmly support the idea of an interim government with no political leanings accompanied by a non political body to touch up the constitution where it is needed and put some teeth into it. Basically it is not that bad but there are always the people who will find the flaws and use them to extort things to their own advantage. For instance the election guidelines are defiantly in need of a rewrite and some teeth added into them. There would have to be a time limit set one year to a year and a half as it would take a while to find suitable people from all walks of life to sit on it. In my opinion the King would be a good choice to pick the chair. Who the people are or would be I do not know but in a Nation of 66 million people I am sure there are qualified people who given the chance would do a wonderful job.

I believe it should have some politicians on it also. Democrats we know there are good ones. What we don't know but I strongly suspect is that out from under the yoke of Thaksin there are good PTP politicians. The committee should not have to many politicians and lawyers but the lawyers would also be needed. Academics Agriculture, Labor. Manufacturing, Tourism White collar workers and any other field. All with an agenda to make Thailand a better country to live in.

It may or it may not be democratic but it is only a temporary thing and Thailand would come out a much more mature and united country. for my money it would be well worth it weigh it against 80 more years of turmoil and get back to me why your insistence on democracy is worth all that.

Edit

Forgot to mention there would be an election after the committee has done it's work. I wouldn't even mind one if all they had done at that point was changed the election laws.

For the benefit of those who claim that there are only a few protesters left.

Today at the office on defense.

BgzzTn0IYAAHRYn.jpg

We can probably thank Chalerm for this huge boost in support.

Thais like a good fight. I expect the numbers to pick up as a result of vengeance for the 4 heroes slaughtered indiscriminately by police firing willy nilly into crowds at chest to head height with the sole purpose of murdering people without trial, and very unlikely the killed were shooting them.

The police responsible, also their direct commander and Chalerm and Yingluck should all be charged with murder, as this is clearly an open and shut case.

30 years in prison should help them reflect on how evil they have been!

Wow and todays drama queen award goes to .......

Amazing isn't it.

A wanted criminal with blood on his hands and pockets full of corrupt palm-oil money vowing to chase a democratically elected (at the last elections) leader of a country.

A dangerous, deranged rich man insane with power. Sadly supported by those who despise the poor majority, who have sadly ruled the country with their minority up until 10 odd years ago, and are driven insane that the poor have actually been given a voice. sad.png

His nickname in political circles is the Angel of Death.

In 1995, Suthep’s Sor Por Kor 4-01 land scheme scandal led to the downfall of the Democrat-led Chuan Leekpai government.

He was about to be indicted and (Thai style) he resignied as Minister of Agriculture without even a slap on the wrist.

How ironic it would be if Suthep managed to bring down Yinluck's democratically elected government!

He brought down the government of Democrats in 1995 and now is bent on bringing down the PTP.

What a poltico! What a dismal bunch of people that do not care to know nor remember their own history! Dysfunctional!!!

Or unlike you is not biased

and his beliefs are to stop bad governments if they are yellow or red

your always complaining that yellow only follow there own

but if you find one that is a swinging voter for action

He is Dysfunctional!!!

did you come up with that word while looking in a mirror

First let's define what we are talking about:

Definition:

In the ever poplar Wikipedia:" Yellow journalism, or the yellow press, is a type of journalism that presents little or no legitimate well-researched news and instead uses eye-catching headlines to sell more newspapers.[1] Techniques may include exaggerations of news events, scandal-mongering, or sensationalism.[1] By extension, the term yellow journalism is used today as a pejorative to decry any journalism that treats news in an unprofessional or unethical fashion."

A rag is yet a pejorative word to describe the yellow press too.

Ergo, Yellow rags in my post refers to publications that use those subterfuges in order to attract readers. Ethics and the truth are not the main consideration of Yellow Rags.

This definition is dedicated to you because it is obvious that yo are not in exquisite command of Standard English.

Now you cannot ignore that your obsessive compulsion to defend all things Suthep has made you blunder in this forum by misinterpreting a simple Standard English expression.

That unless you decide to remain ill informed of reality and some hard to swallow truths.

I will not dive into your level and take this exchange ad hominem , as you did. Look up that last expression so you can understand it.

Lastly, it will behoove you to run a simple, cursory spell check before you decide to lecture others in your diatribes.

This is one view. For me it is the view of a person with a clear right wing agenda who accepts the dictatorship of the autocrat Thaksin. Thaksin is a man who lusts after power and only uses the word 'democracy' as a marketing ploy against the opposition. His administration, including the current one, is no more democratic than the regime in North Korea or Cambodia, where Thaksin's best fried, Hun Sen, came to power through a coup. Thaksin is a very dangerous man and it appears that some farangs are blind enough, or bigoted enough to take this man at face value. Suthep might not be the greatest person on earth, and like many Thai politicians he may be tainted. But that does not change the fact that his cause is correct. All the bleating about his past, his need for power and the rest only repeats the lies carefully put together by Thaksin's PR people (Amsterdam included). Those of us who have been involved in the struggle for global human rights, the struggle against dictators such as Pinochet, Amin, Mugabe, Hun Sen, Kim il Sunf, Then Shwe, Saddam and the rest of them for so many years fully understand Thaksin's place in this rogue's gallery. So I welcome Suthep's moves against the government, supported as he is by a cross section of society (not just elites, that's so much nonsense). He's a brave man to put his head on the block and there is no truth in the libel posted by Khon Thai (etc) in calling him a 'wanted criminal with blood on his hands'. Hey: That's an accurate and honest description of Thaksin - although his PR people and his gullible followers would claim otherwise. I support decency, equality, real democracy and above all honesty. You clearly do not.

Suthep declares war on PM, protesters rally at Defence Permanent Secretary's Office today

Dear Mr. Suthep, again, you are falling right into Thaksin's trap, as innocent people will usually pay the price lethally wai2.gifwai2.gifwai2.gif

What, you mean as in the 1,400 extra-judicial killings (of innocent civilians) as well as the 1,100 others ordered by Thaksin to be murdered in 2003 or the Tak Bai 100 deaths or the 2010 martyrdom of his red shirts that he was willing to sacrifice so that he could return to Thailand?

Yes, Thaksin has proven that he is the king of this kind of thing!!!

How many more deaths will it take to end this Tyrants raging and self interest.

Sadly Mr. Corrupt Palm Oil man's deep pockets can afford lots more cannon fodder. sad.png

Get the murderer and wanted criminal into a prison cell.

Agreed - the sooner Thaksin is in jail the better off Thailand will be
If Thaksin died today, it would do nothing to end the political troubles. You believe the propagandists who have tried to blame one man for Thailand's deep political divide. This is a very simplistic and inaccurate explanation that deliberately ignores the real issue, although Suthep and his supporters have openly stated the reason on numerous occasions. Suthep and his supporters are elitist bigots who don't want democracy because they despise the majority, whom they consider inferior. This thing is going to blow up and get very ugly; Thaksin or no Thaksin.

After the 1992 massacres of civilians exactly the same thoughts were expressed as you have described. After many years of discussion and work by many different groups a new constitution was created in 1997. It was know as the people's constitution and at the time was hailed as a great success and a leap forward in democracy.

Unfortunately the army binned the constitution in the 2006 coup and produced a new one.

So my question is what is there to stop such activity in the future even if some reform process is put in motion ?

Suthep is sounding more and more fanatical with every passing day. Clearly he's got some personal obsession about Thaksin. And alarmingly it now seems not only with Thaksin. Suthep is quoted in the OP above as saying that his protesters “would ... not yield to her [Yingluck] and would pursue her any place and any time until the Thaksin regime and all its lackeys were driven out of the country".

So Suthep is now threatening not only to have the Shinewatras kicked out of Thailand but all their "lackeys" too. Potentially huge numbers of people could get the boot, if Suthep has his way. Or maybe he’ll have some system of public “show trials” a bit like in the old Soviet Union, where you could denounce “the evil Thaksin” and thereby be allowed to stay in Thailand! whistling.gif
