Suthep addresses protesters on Silom Road Thursday.

BANGKOK: -- Suthep Thaugsuban, secretary general of the People's Democratic Reform Committee, Thursday reiterated his threat to disrupt businesses of the Shinawatra family and warned red-shirt leaders of possible attacks by unknown gunmen.

Suthep Thaugsuban told the Silom rally that the protesters would hound caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra no matter where she might go.

He said the protesters would only surround the prime minister without touching her.

"If she runs down protesters while trying to escape, we will sue her. Now her days are numbered," Suthep said.

He said the protesters would also rally at all business sites of the Shinatwatra family, such as Mlink and Voice TV.

He said the PDRC would spare the Rama IX Hospital and Shinawatra University.

"But we will render other businesses of Shinawatras bankrupt because these businesses defy the people's power," Suthep said.

He said the caretaker government could survive because of its money so the PDRC would try to disrupt its financial sources.

Suthep also urged his supporters to stop using AIS mobile phone services even though InTouch group, which runs AIS, earlier stated that the Shinawatra family no longer had shares in the group.

Regarding the announcement by red-shirt leaders that they would lead red-shirt people to confront the PDRC protesters, Suthep indicated that the red shirts might face attacks by unknown gunmen.

"They should come because popcorn vendors have made popcorn for them," Suthep said, referring to the gunmen at the clash between the red shirts and PDRC protesters before election day. The clash saw some gunmen covering their rifles with popcorn bags.

"Natthawut Saikuar and Jatuporn Promphan should really come … I don't know these popcorn vendors but I really love them."

Suthep also thanked the Civil Court for ruling on Wednesday that the government could not invoke the emergency decree to crack down on protesters.

He said that following the ruling, the protesters could freely rally in as high a number as they wished.

Suthep said he also planned to sue the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order for ordering the crackdown at Phan Fah bridge on Tuesday, causing four protesters to be killed and scores of injuries.

Does Popcorn vendors = paid gunmen for the anti-government leaders.

I wonder if he reads from a teleprompter or if his instructions and words come via earpiece? I reckon the latter.

I would assume it equals the police gunmen who have been harrassing the protesters nightly...

... investors will be concerned that this nutter is now going after a non-shin company trading internationally. He and his cronies can never be trusted with the economy

I disagree with you, I believe it local people who had enough of the roads and buildings being blocked.

getting a bit cocky isn't he? will be his undoing.

No drone shots of the mob today = business as usual = poor turnout.

getting desperate to wrap this up, but how? he don't have the numbers of backing.

They're not unknown gunmen, Suthep has already admitted they are PDRC.

Suthep: PDRC member involved in Laksi shooting

BANGKOK, 3 February 2014 (NNT) - People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) leader Suthep Thaugsuban has admitted that one of those involved in the Laksi shooting on Saturday is a member of the PDRC.

During a speech to his supporters last night, Mr Suthep verified that two shooters wearing green arm bands are PDRC members. He urged his supporters to refrain from carrying weapons into the rally sites as violence had repeatedly escalated into gunfire.

He added that members of the public who wished to join the rally would need to register their names with the guard in a bid to better identify their members.

Mr Suthep insisted, however, that men in black who were spotted at the scene are not with the PDRC and suspected they are professional gunmen.

Police continue to probe into the incident which left several people injured. Police have so far accused the PDRC guards of starting the shoot-out.

the shin corporation shares fall down 6% overnight. Many shareholders would be not happy, that includes suthep's financial backers.

I don't think he will be allowed to run this boycott for a long

No, I reckon Suthep pretty well shoots from the hip. Yingluck OTOH has to listen carefully to what is being said via her wireless connection.

Has Suthep been hitting Charlem's hip flask? So far, 16 dead and 700 injured, and he's taunting the opposition and making jokes about the gun violence. Suthep should have gone home once the Amnesty Bill was abandoned. There was probably no need to try and bring down the PTP Government, they're doing a good job of it themselves.

Do you people honestly not know who he is referring to? Why bother posting if u don't keep up with the news.

This Suthep has plummeted to new lows. A monitor lizard from hell!

Popcorn vendors = the black shirt from PDRC side that was filmed 1 day before the elections firing from an assault rifle at Laksi that was hidden in a big green bag that normally is used to sell popcorn (yes the popcorn you eat at the movies)... That's where the "Popcorn vendors" come from.

I remember when I was in kindergarten and one of my 6year-old classmates spoke like this. The reaction from the rest of the children was: "GROW UP".

Don't you think his backers new before and might even bought some put options on the shin corporations and made a killing at the expense of Taksin and use that to finance the rightful struggle against the Shin dictatorship cheesy.gif That would be irony (not to mention illegal)

Wish he would stop his threats of unjust violence, going armed and shooting who you like just because you do not agree with their views is stooping down to level of Chalerms red army, leave that nonsense to Chalerm, two wrongs do not make a right.

What you say is correct, bluenosecodger, but as a key Western ally in South East Asia, Thailand gets a pass on all these kind of extrajudicial killings and the like. Tak Bai, the war on drugs, 1992, 1976, the massacre and rape of Khmer refugees, Rohingyas towed out to sea, etc.

: the use of violent acts to frighten the people in an area as a way of trying to achieve a political goal

He's already admitted the popcorn shooters were PDRC.

Acts of violence to force political change is terrorism, and it is prosecutable internationally, so everyone involved in terrorism, the acts, the planning, the financing, can be imprisoned in many places around the world on terrorism charges. Companies involved in terrorism too, can be financially sanctioned, regardless of their standing in Thailand.

Furthermore, any Swiss bank accounts held by the terrorist in question can be seized. Sending a terrorist money is called materially aiding terrorists and it too carries similar sentences to the acts of terrorism.

There are many options for the prosecution of terrorism internationally, e.g. US law 779. permits the arrest, prosecution, imprisonment, seizure of assets and other penalties for terrorists and conspirators to commit terrorism, regardless of where the act of terrorism is committed.

So, dear Suthep backers, read his sloppy words here and read his previous sloppy words back on Feb 2nd. See the TV footage world wide and realize just how toxic this man is to you. You like your ski holidays and your Paris trips and Disneyland Florida, but do you like Guantanamo?

Hang on.

All you guys on here call Suthep a fascist, a thug and a liar. You don't believe a single word he says apparently. Then he stated the PDRC were popcorn shooters and all of a sudden you take his word as gospel. He is no longer a liar? What your really saying is you will use what he says to suit your agenda. You will believe what you want when it suits your agenda. He lies when it is an inconvenient truth, but tells the truth when it suits your agenda.

All this highlights is he is an honest terrorist. thaksin on the other hand is a dishonest terrorist. Might be pertinent to add at this stage is that Mandela was an honest terrorist as well.

Time to accept the will of the majority.

I don't think USA and EU views any Suthep government as a key ally and given his boys protests outside the US embassy he's really blown that one too:

BANGKOK: -- The Student and People’s Network for the Reform of Thailand will protest at the US Embassy today for what its leaders said was the interference in the Thai internal affairs over its support for the caretaker government to hold the February 2 general elections.

First he take away an elected goverment, then block new elections, then block the farmers from

get there money....What a mess its going to be in Bangkok....Huuuuuu. The farmers on the way in,

the redshirts on the way in...The military divided....God save thailand

If it wasn't for the damage to local businesspeople etc. and the fact that people have been killed and injured, this guy would be great fun to watch as a sort of cabaret parody of politicians. He is classic performance art. You could stick him on a podium and just let him rant all day, like a sort of broken clockwork automaton. I personally love watching mad old men ranting about stuff they remember back in the day when young lasses knew how to carry sacks of coal up the hill in freezing midwinter and the lasses would never say nowt or get a thick ear, them were the days.

Crazy old ranty blokes are great, so I'm fond of Suthep in that regard. But the fact is that his unstable demagoguery is causing all these problems for normal working people and businesses who don't have the luxury of extended-playtime like Suthep has, most working people can't afford to hang round the streets ranting and asking people for fistfights.

He can't delivery on anything positive, but PDRC shooters and bombers are the stuff of TV news.
