UBON RATCHATHANI: -- An unknown group of men set fire to a private medical clinic owned by National Human Rights Commission member Dr Nirand Pitakwatchara.

The incident occurred around 3.30am yesterday when the men used paper and a towel soaked in gasoline to set fire to Narind's clinic in Ubon Ratchathani.The fire burned a wooden cabinet containing medical records, before it was put out by people in the area.

Nirand said he believed the incident stemmed from dissatisfaction from in some quarters over the National Human Rights Commission's investigation into the bloody clash between protesters and police during the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order's operation to recover traffic space from protesters at Phan Fah Lilat Bridge last Tuesday.

At the clinic, Ubon Ratchatani forensic police found pieces of towel, paper and a bottle of petrol.

Actually, Ubon is one of the least red north eastern provinces. The democrats have an MP there, or they did until they decided not to run. Are you confusing it with Udon perchance?

Make no mistake about it. Ubon is well known for it's red shirt activity. Yes, there was a very popular Democrat MP from Ubon before the dems recently withdrew. The reds pretty much have total control here.

Funny you mention that, because I'm looking at 2010 arson footage from Central World. e.g. see this photograph from ABC Australia, from this article.

And here they are again, back in May 2010, the same group with the same trait.

The same things again we saw at Pan Fah.

Third hand again I think.

The way k. Nirand phrases his remarks (at least in the English translation) it could be anyone of a number of parties. Both red-shirts and PDRC are not impressed with the HRC. Still in Ubon we have a solid red-shirt base, although some have it they didn't even dare to vote much for fear of violence in their own dear town.

It would appear from the many news stories over the past months that the Thailand diirector of Human Rights Commission has become involved with individual acts of terror, such as personally investigating bomb sights (a function of the police), and by his commenting on political issues in the country. This would be possibly crossing the line on the UN stated mission and getting himself personally involved by seemingly taking sides in the current crisis. Therefore, once one has taken sides in any conflict, they are then opeing the door to acts on the part of the other side. It is never justified to attack any clinic or property, but if one opens up themselves to taking sides, then one might pay a price. Better for a UN official to remain "neutral".

It has already collapsed because everyone everywhere is voicing criticisms - even redshirts are getting sick once they see the light - it seems collapse is not enough and the witch hunting goes on so obvious that the protestors bear deep grievances against the Charles Taylor of Thailand and no I am not saying Yingluck is the Naomi Campbell of Thaiand, Idi Amin ate some of the people but in Thailand they eat all the people's rice? Trying to figure out which one really is more evil?
