Joel Barlow
Yeah, it's really no thing. Straight up Hwy 1 - about 60 km. very cheap by local bus. we don't really have taxis, but songtaeos... Used to be you had to go from bus station to immigration to the bridge, but now all is done at the bridge, which you can't miss as that's where the highway leads straight to. If you're driving, turn left beside the bridge, drive under the awning over the street leading left.. guys will try to wave you in but near Monkey Island G.H. parking on the street is free and not troublesome. Because of the new awning, the walk is hardly unpleasant.

Limbo
Is it worth a night in Mae Sai is there any bars and other things up there If you arrive at the border just before the building of the immigration building there is at the left side a road going down. You take after fifty meters to the left again. You can buy all kind of things here, clothes, electrical devices, tea, vegetables, (sun)glasses etc etc. Nowadays there is a big plastic roof above this street, which probably brought down the sale of Chinese umbrellas. After about sixty metres you will find "John's Place' at your right and some hundred meters further 'Julians'. I am not sure if Julian has a sign. It is an open space with a terrace at the backside almost above the river. In both places you will have the honour to get acquainted with fellow expats, temporay visitors of this charming little town (?) and visa-runners. Together they are an enormeous source of information. Limbo
