712 million Baht to be paid to 3,900 rice growers

At 15.000 Baht per Tonne that amount translates to 12 Tonne per each of the 3900 farmers.

Am I mistaken if that is only a very small part of what they really pledged to government from their last harvest.

712 million is a far cry from 130,000,000,000 baht. 712 million baht is just walking around money to Thaksin.coffee1.gif

To put it into perspective, the farmers get 712 million and Thaksin boasts to Forbes that his govt sent him 30,000 million to his offshore accounts. The farmers must really love the guy to put up with these sort of shenanigans.

Really... where's the article/proof?

They are going to pay 3,900 farmers out of the many million rice farmers. That should be well accepted, right? Will there be another tractor march very soon?

712 million is about 1/2% of the 130 BILLION baht owed to the farmers. That is an average of 182,000 baht to those few who are to be paid. Only 99.5% more to go for the 129,288,000,000 more baht needed now.

The government didn't say exactly which funds were plundered to provide the 712 million baht.

We heard you the first time. It wasn't worth the air it was written on then. What makes you think reposting it will change it's value.

If you had half a brain (which you obviously don't). Then you might just assume that there could have been a problem with either my computer or the website and it posted itself 3 times.

As well as paying the farmers the government should take steps to indemnify them against the illegal money lenders. Most of the smalll guys will have been borrowing at around 50% per annum or more for at least 6 months.

With the increasing costs of rent, fertilizers etc., and the scamming middlemen and maybe millers too they are probably all past the point of bankruptcy. These money lenders don't care if you have nothing they will just use violence.

A never ending spiral for the small holders that Yingluck has managed to push into hell with her corrupt and disgusting scheme.

And now as many of us have been predicting I note the rotting rice and fungus infected stocks are beginning to turn up. Despite attempts to cover up as they have been doing since the inception of this corrupt scheme, the truth has come out.

How do they indemnify them against loan sharks who kamnans, pooyai baan, rice millers, policeman's wives and PT party canvassers? The farmers who get to pay only 50% per annum are the lucky ones.
