Reccomend me some good brands of luggage bags

Featured Replies

I bought a new luggage bag from tesco lotus for like 500 bht i think or wait was it 800 bht. I forgot but in other words it was really cheap. In singapore dollars that is 20 to 30 bucks. Well needless to say the bag isn't very good. There aren't any wheels in the back so the bag will topple over if too much luggage is inside.

I checked out some luggage bags the hard metal casing one and the cheapest was around 150 sgd the very expensive ones cost over 600. In thai bht 600 is around 15000 bht and that is expensive and probably not worth it.

So know of any brands that cost around the ball park of say 1000-2000 bht.

Real men don't pull suitcases on wheels, especially in crowded airports.

They sling a heavy duffel over their shoulder.

Who picked the name, "Ultimate Weapon?"

In that price range maybe Samsomight ,Luois Witton or maybe Guggi .

Ha! Look at the ad that comes up after my reply.

Maybe not a duffel, but no wheels, either, private.

Really ugly bad and no thanks unless you are a soldier or a bum that carries some ugly bag.

The older I get, the more of my luggage has wheels.

Tough to recommend good brand because so many are fakes here.

Even if you find a genuine article, most manufacturers have whored sold out their brands, and you may find an excellent "Samsonite" one day, and in the same store the Samsonite made for a different price point may be absolute rubbish.

Edited by impulse

Like most consumer goods here, if you want anything of quality you go to the high-end malls and pay through the nose for imported genuine brands like Samsonite.

The rest is cheap as chips with quality to match, just toss it and buy a new one when it breaks.

Actually second-hand from JJ or other street markets you can find genuine foreign brands second-hand sold off by travellers run out of money.

You get what you pay for. If you travel frequently, it's really worth spending a bit more on good luggage. I have Delsey and Samsonite at present, and I'll probably pick some more up when I go to the US later in the year, as the prices there are excellent. Branded luggage here, is vastly overpriced from what I have seen.

I bought one of those cheap fake luggage in Bangkok, an hard shell one with 3 handles and it last one trip from Bangkok to Phuket. At the hotel in Bangkok the taxi driver lift it to put the suitcase in the car and the first handle gave away, at the airport taking out the suitcase of the car the second handle gave away to and when I lift it to put it on the scale at the check in the third one gave away. Arriving at Phuket airport one of the latch was broken, 1500 bath lost.

I bought 2 real Samsonite 19 years ago and they are still going and going .....

As mentioned by many, one should not be cheap when buying travel luggage. Personally I prefer two wheels rather than four (less probability of wheel breakage), provided it's a quality piece with good wheels and a low centre of gravity.

Are you looking at carry - on style luggage or bigger? I have had good success with FlightPro luggage - they sell to airline crews, but do not sell to outlet stores. So, i suppose I am not providing much help. Sorry. :)
