Sending friend's motorbike from Samui to Bangkok

Featured Replies

A good friend of mine who lives on Koh Samui is going to leave Thailand at the end of next month and has offered me to leave me his motorbike, an old Honda DreamExess.

I agreed. Since this is my first motorbike, I'm not sure what steps we have to take from now. I know that you can send a bike by mail, on a train, for something around THB1000 if I've read it correctly in another thread. Does anyone have any more info on thus one?

What about the registration? He's got all the papers. Do they need to be changed on my name or can I just drive with his? If we have to change it, where exactly is this done and how much does it cost?

i would just ride it there and stay somewhere along the way but i like long journeys on bikes :)

any post office will bring it for you ,doesnt cost too much either

I'll tell you, if I had the time I'd love to do that. Unfortunately I don't so I guess I will end up with the post. I'll check today and post the details here for general information.

You will need the Green book to post it.

I just shipped one Monday from Wang Saphung to Pattaya at a cost of 1,800 Baht.

Around 700 kilometers one way. The registered owner accompanied it with the book in hand.

Sent it via scheduled bus service.
