Proof of Income, Non-O extension, Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

I have heard various stories about what you can and cannot use as proof of income but I would be really grateful if somebody who has gone through the process of obtaining a year's extension in Chiang Mai for a non-O based on marriage could tell me what they used as proof. I was thinking that bank statements would be enough but now I am not so sure and i don't know how many months of statements they would need if they are acceptable.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

For foreign earned income you need a letter from your embassy to prove your income. What you need for it will depend upon their requirements.

If working here you need to show tax payment receipts to prove your income and your work permit.

Thanks. I'm not working. It's an income that is paid into my UK bank account every month, from another UK bank account.

I suggest you contact the consulate in Chiang Mai to find out what they need for the letter. Contact info: https://www.gov.uk/government/world/organisations/british-embassy-bangkok/office/the-consulate-in-chiang-mai

Thanks again, but I was under the impressions the immigration officials might ask for further proof in addition to the letter. I guess I should phone them and try to find out directly.

Cheers

Nope. They usually accept the Embassy letter.

I have seen no recent reports of Chiang Mai immigration wanting back up proof to the letter. If they did ask having a Thai bank book showing transfers into the country is the best proof. Even your bank statement from the UK showing ATM withdrawals done here would be acceptable.

Thanks very much Lite Beer and ubonjoe. You've saved me a lot of unnecessary googling and phone calls. I'll call the consulate tomorrow and see what they need. I have had dealings with the lady there before and she's always been very helpful.

Cheers.

Hello I have done this iN CM for about 5 years now.

*Letter/statements from Bank Originals covering at least 4 months

*take it to British consulate Chiang Mai

*2400 baht fee

*do it not more than a month before your visa(must be fresh)

*Passport/original+copy)

They issuie you a letter on Consulate paper.

*Mostly collect next day

It can be done by post and arranging payment though post + ems fee.

They also do a great job there , Hope this helps
