Intouch logo introduced in April 2011

Shin Corp Plc will change the company name to Intouch Holdings Plc, effective on April 3.

In the statement to the Stock Exchange of Thailand, the company said that the new name and seal were registered today with the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce.

The change followed a series of attacks from politically-motivated groups, who are against former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Thaksin’s family founded the company. Though the family sold out the stake in the company in 2006, it has remained a political target.

The latest round came when the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) launched a campaign against the Shinawatra family’s business. Shin and flagship business, Advanced Info Service, are the targets, despite their explanation of zero connection with the family.

"Intouch" has been introduced as a corporate name since 2011.

Hmm....... Yingluck InTouchWatRa (the added Ra being silent.) What IS that all about anyway?

Have to admit the new name doesn't really do it for me although I'm sure plenty of her fanboys will love the touchy feely nature of it. thumbsup.gif

UNTIL it officially becomes re-named "OUT OF TOUCH" the current show will go on.

Actually, "In To Touch" would be better, as that is where it should be kicked.

If anyone believes that the Shin family have no connection with this business they are sadly deluded.

It means he's still in touch!

As if nobody's ever heard of 'nominees'.

Sadly you are deluded. It has mainly been owned by the Singaporean Government Investment arm. All the major shareholders are listed on the Company reports which are readily accessible on the SET Website. Although Thaksin did try to keep a stake in Shin, because of Democrat Party whistle blowers years ago, he had to sell his nominee company holding. For all intents and purposes, Advance and InTouch are majority controlled by the Singaporean Government and SingTel. Hence the change of name to InTouch. Perhaps next year for ASEAN they will change the name to Singtel.

So, you have been through the list of share holders and can categorically state that none of them have any connections with the family.

You are the one who is out of touch and are obviously having difficulty reading today. This is what the OP says: "Thaksin’s family founded the company. Though the family sold out the stake in the company in 2006.."

Such irony in the name.

In touch with their inner pirate, out of touch with the populace.

No reason to believe hiding the company assets from less savvy protestors

would have anything to do with this. No not a bit....

You mean the stupid protesters (and their leaders that set them up to it) that thought the company still had connections with the Shinawatras despite selling all their shares in 2006, those "less savvy" protesters?

only in Thailand is there such knuckleheads and blowhards that envy the successes of an ordinary man. look at the lives of American Robber Barons, the late Steve Jobs, Nesta 'Bob Marley, Bill Gates, good'ol Warren Buffet.. people that CAPITALIZED and god forbid profited from supplying a demand plain and simple. given the poverty in Thailand and overwhelming poverty of global humanity (5b w/out internet).. thank goodness for people and salt-of-the earth families like the 'Shins'. get off your computer desk thrones and AC chambers where it is so simple to talk smack. look around, go upcountry to the Real Thailand and see what remains the log in your own eyes. until the elite oligarchies in old Siam begin to realize their sh*t stinks too, democracy shall remain an illusion/ dog & pony show.. ps with no pesky red-shirts around, the so-called loyal yellow shirts can return to tearing each other apart just like those good'ol days when American 'intelligence' lacked the juevos to tell them otherwise during the Vietnam era. sine cera
