Suthep accepts Jatuporn's challenge

BANGKOK: -- People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) leader Suthep Thaugsuban on Sunday night accepted United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) chairman Jatuporn Promphan’s challenge to a battle over the number of supporters on each side.

Addressing to anti-government protesters at Lumpini park, Suthep sid he was ready to accept Jatuporn’s challenge earlier on Sunday evening that each side mobilize its supporters to show the world which side has more followers.

Although neither side will set exact date for the show of force, but Suthep said his “Muan Mahaprachachon” (the mass of people) is ready for the battle and asked the UDD leader to keep his challenge.

The PDRC leader said there was no evil gang with any amount of money to resist the power of people who have the pure love in the country.

“Please come to the battle and we will see that those who fight for only one boss will never win those who have the heart for the kingdom,” Suthep said.

The PDRC and red-shirt United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) have each announced a big rally on the day the charter court is to have a ruling on the case involving the prime minister’s transfer of Thawil Pliensri, who has been reinstated as chief of the National Security Council on the ruling of the Supreme Administrative Court

The date for the ruling has not been set. The prime minister has 15 days from last Thursday to present her defense.

Earlier the deputy commissioner of the National Police Office Pol Gen Worapong Chiewpreecha put the highest number of redshirt supporters gathering on Aksa road at less than 100,000, in contrary to earlier claim by UDD leader Jatuporn that up to half a million supporters would come out on April 5.

But PDRC spokesman Ekanat Phromphan gave the total redshirt supporters on Sunday to about 20,000.

If it wasn't adults playing with the lives of people of Thailand..I'd pay the 25 cents to go to this circus...

..it's more carny than ever ...

Have you seen the little piggies
Crawling in the dirt
And for all the little piggies
Life is getting worse
Always having dirt to play around in.

Have you seen the bigger piggies
In their starched white shirts
You will find the bigger piggies
Stirring up the dirt
Always have clean shirts to play around in.

In their sties with all their backing
They don't care what goes on around
In their eyes there's something lacking
What they need's a good whacking.

Everywhere there's lots of piggies
Living piggy lives
You can see them out for dinner
With their piggy wives
Clutching forks and knives to eat their bacon. -George Harrison

Confusing news.

Another topic has

Instead of this "my dad is bigger than your dad" nonsense, perhaps they could hold a general election, no polling stations blocked, all parties involved and then see who gets the most votes.

you left out...

no 500 baht incentives

no intimidation

no blocking / threats to/of other parties from campaigning in all villages

anyone else want to add to this laundry list?

Sure, the Dems are guilty of all the above, but I don't think PTP are totally innocent either.

It was Jatumouth that came up with the idea! How about some ideas from the UDD and the government about reform?

Democracy isn't just votes..

please point me to where the dems have blocked / threatened anyone from campaigning in certain villages/ towns/ districts?

I would suggest you worry about the current situation though, looks like another big ban from politics is coming to team red for obvious well documented reasons...or shall we start another list?

Rice, transfers, constitution, infrastructure voting....

An election organized through Thaksin's vote buying machine will only justify the Shin's corruption so it will not happen.

Thailand needs reform NOW. Elections, in its current form are not the solution. For example, it should be made impossible for a government to spend a trillion baht without transparency like what has happened with the rice scam.

The problem in Thailand is that most have never heard of 'rise above it', no matter what is said.

It has to be response, which is not in the courtyard of essential Buddhism.

Seems 95% of Thais don't even understand Buddhism or the precepts or the intent of Pali scriptures nowadays... money and power come first (in all walks of life, including MONKS).

Let them spin..... these 2 idiots. Suthep had a principle, which was right to most degrees, but he suddenly lost the plot. Now he's as psychopathic as Jatuporn and Chalerm, assuming these reports to be true, of course??

Principles of non-response being actually more powerful, when one has adequate mental facilities to back up when one gets throw shit at, has no meaning in this country, which is why knives, homemade bombs, batons, and lack of principle abound.

Shame it's come to these 2.... it really is. Both will lose (with gladness), yet those above really could have been more astute...... or not (as the same lack of principle lives within them too).

Thailand: The hub of principles. bah.gif

you mean with real candidates and manifestos clearly explaining their policies?

Without the petty suing because someone's supporter's friend's next door neighbour said something that might have made someone change their mind?

Act like responsible adults and accept the result with those elected taking office to serve the people and respect law and order and the opposition and debate openly and fairly and ensure transparency and honesty?

Nah, this is Thailand. Cheap copy of democracy with dodgy quality that doesn't quite work right.

More chance of the rams being promoted!

When I read the title I thought that it was referring to the challenge of appearing in a public face-to-face debate on TV.

Nothing interesting here... coffee1.gif I second what Somtanication has said.

Instead of this "my dad is bigger than your dad" nonsense, perhaps they could hold a general election, no polling stations blocked, all parties involved and then see who gets the most votes.

The Thai People who are not sheep of a corrupt Government are aware of alleged corruption and abuses of authority by the current PTP Party

and the negative effects on the country associated with the influence of former prime minister Thakin Shinawatra.

In Jan 2014 the Election Commission (EC) had repeatedly stated it could not guarantee a fair election, but the Caretaker Government insisted on going ahead with it in a bid to whitewash its wrongdoings.

Was this a Democratic Election .............. No

Unless an election is fair, it can not be democratic.

Government supporters continued to threaten independent organisations, the people and political parties which opposed it. and the police fail to perform their duties.

Ms Yingluck had never called for the pro-government and red-shirt demonstrators to behave, suggesting that she supported the actions of these same redshirt demonstrators.

Thai People have witnessed red-shirt demonstrators threaten other party members without facing arrest.

The Democrat Party has also been threatened, many times if they want to campaign in Issan

During the 2005 general election, a political canvasser belonging to his party in Phichit province had been told to stop his campaigning.

When the threat was ignored, the canvasser was shot dead in front of his house three days before the election. Police have still not arrested any suspects

In 2014 things are even worse. Anti-government demonstrators were being ambushed on a main Hyway and no suspects had been arrested.

Under these circumstances, No other party but the PTP is safe to campaign for votes in the North East of Thailand

“The [Democrat] party conducted a survey of potential candidates nationwide and found that 80% had no safe place to campaign for votes, except those in the South, Bangkok and parts of the Central Plains.

So, is this a democratic Election, is it fair if only one political party can campaign for votes but others cannot,

IMO the fact that no one will debate tells me neither have the onions to speak directly to their opposite about any facts. It's all blah blah reform blah blah...will this ever end ?

The only way to know who has the most followers is elections, but since Suthep and his thugs cant win, he will never accept that challenge .

and it seems you never read anything that is the truth about elections
