SGD
When I've sent money from the UK to Thailand, I've sent it as GBP and had the conversion done by the receiving bank to get the best rates. however, as I now need to send some money from Thailand to the UK, I was dismayed to see that Siam Commercial Bank's forms only list the foreign currency you wish to send it to and they do not list THB as an option (to be converted by the UK bank). This is via their online form Does anyone know how to get the best rate ? I can send it from a Thai person's account to a Thai named account in the UK if that helps. We're not talking a lot, between 500k to 1m baht.

daveAustin
IME they only let you transfer in baht because they make the money on the exchange - well what else would you expect (roll eyes)? Perhaps different with a forex account.
meatboy
this was discussed last month and today I have posted in the banking forum sending money back to the uk. you will be buying pound sterling so the best rate you will get is by changing it to gbp.here.do not send bht.back to the uk. look at the difference between buying and selling, you are buying gbp.with thai bht.

KhunBENQ
I know that it is not favourable to change to THB in Europe. That applied to sending money from Europe to Thailand (alway sending EUR, not THB). So I guess it is not different the other way. Let the Thai Bank do the change and send GPB to UK.
