I can't tell what many on here have. Is it really 10Mbps, or is it actually 10 MBps which is 8 times faster? My guess is that some who are posting Mbps really mean MBps. A byte is 8 bits.

As for throttling, it can also be done by the host. The worst is Microsoft. Downloading updates, especially the one from Win 8 to 8.1 is very slow, yet I have 30 MBps, and have proven it by timing the download of a known file size from sites that don't throttle.

Another thing that confuses me is international bandwidth. In Thailand, the US sites are slow but in the US they are fast. But when in the US, the Thai and other Asian sites aren't slow. So it seems to be one way as if Thai ISP's aren't buying enough bandwidth. ??

I have 3bb but here is the scoop. If you complain you are not getting the speed you contracted for and keep complaining and get techs to come out 3 or 4 times they get fed up with it and stop throttling But you have to be consistent in your complaints

I've been having erratic performance from 3BB recently and have complained numerous times. They checked things out but claimed the problem must be in my building not with their service. I will say for several years now my 3BB service and the technicians' response to problems have both been excellent.

I did notice that the service seemed to fluctuate the most when Bit Torrent was running. It didn't seem to matter whether or not I was downloading much, but when it was running my overall 3BB download speeds dropped and fluctuated a lot. So I shut down Bit torrent and installed U torrent (the U is supposed to be the greek letter Mu). Just did that awhile ago, but it's downloading some stuff now and my use of the Internet for other things isn't being negatively impacted.

Have no idea whether this is an amazing coincidence or if it really was Bit Torrent that was throwing a spanner in the works, but so far the difference is amazing. Right now the new downloader is chugging away and I am back to the former normal speeds while using the internet for other things.

Those symptoms sound like Bit Torrent was saturating your upstream connection which happens quite easily with ADSL's max 1Mb/s up speed.

By default the Global Upload Rate is set to 0 which means unlimited.

If you throttle it to approx. 50KB/s that still leaves about half of the upload bandwidth available for other applications.

MY speeds have gotten more stable and a bit higher on average when downloaden. They still throttle the connection in the times i mention.

But why I am posting, the reason all goes better is because i put an expensive asus router on the network and used the crap huawei optic router in bridge mode.

Everything seems to have improved, i had similar experiences when i replaced the other modem (non optic) for an better asus router / modem.

10Mbps i got 30Mbps optical with 3Mbps upload. I have seen 50Mbps but not much faster as that.

Hi, I have recently got 3BB in and noticed that there is a distinct slowing in downloading at certain times. I have ran the Glasnost test and got some results below. Would be interested to hear on any feedback from TV members if they have similar. Many Thanks.

BitTorrent transfers using port 6881 and port 57430

Download #1 failed 1 Kbps Download #2 2 Kbps 9 Kbps Download #3 8 Kbps 7 Kbps Upload #1 45 Kbps 268 Kbps Upload #2 failed 115 Kbps Upload #3 0 Kbps

280 Kbps

Transfer Direction Bandwidth Port 6881 Bandwidth Port 57430 Download #1 2913 Kbps 3510 Kbps Download #2 3247 Kbps 3568 Kbps Download #3 2825 Kbps 2307 Kbps Upload #1 262 Kbps 287 Kbps Upload #2 269 Kbps 320 Kbps Upload #3 267 Kbps 319 Kbps

Transfer Direction Bandwidth BitTorrent flow Bandwidth control flow Download #1 1 Kbps 3510 Kbps Download #2 9 Kbps 3568 Kbps Download #3 7 Kbps 2307 Kbps Upload #1 268 Kbps 287 Kbps Upload #2 115 Kbps 320 Kbps Upload #3 280 Kbps 319 Kbps

Edit : The table didnt copy onto this post properly, basically it appears the maximum download for Port 57430 is 9Kbps (Bandwidth BitTorrent flow) and 3568Kbps (Bandwidth Flow Control).

For the Control flow transfers using port 6881 and port 57430 download maximum is 3247Kbps and 3568Kbps respectively.
