Electric shower, plastic or copper heat exchanger?

I've been looking at new electric shower units. Some brands have copper heat exchangers and some have plastic heat exchangers. Does anyone have any views/experience of the relative merits of plastic vs. copper ?

Before anyone points it out, I do mean plastic or copper heat exchanger body, not the actual heat exchanger inside...lol

I have a 12.500 BTU water heater that could be 18,000 BTU if I had 3 phase electric. It has a plastic bodied heating element and puts out some superhot water. I didn't buy it for hot just volume.
