I'm just asking if anyone might happen to know of any small, private schools where I could teach afternoons, evenings or weekends,part-time or full-time.

In addition to English(mother tongue) I can also teach French,Spanish,German,Portuguese,Italian and basic Mandarin Chinese.

Where abouts are you located? I believe schools are still currently in the process of hiring teachers at the moment. Take a look on ajarn.com in the job advert section, I'm sure u'll find something good their. Or just do a quick google search..

Are you a qualified teacher ?

Being capable of "teaching" five European Languages plus Chinese would make you attractive to big International schools but only if qualified.

Small schools will have a limited need for such a talented person and will only be able to offer a minimal wage.

I agree with, Cornishcarlos. If you have the experience and qualifications, private institutes may offer fairly good salary. If this is your first time teaching, most schools will probably offer 30-35k max until you can prove otherwise - IMO. I work in a large Gov., school and I'm paid less than the average wage yet still manage to go out, have fun and save a little monthly.

.I grew up in a bilingual environment, fluent in English and German, which I both teach.

Are you fluent in six languages, including writing, reading, and grammar? I'm just asking, as speaking those languages and teaching them isn't quite the same.

If so, you'd considerable make more money by doing translations. Just a thought. Good luck-wai2.gif

Thanks for the replies. But I definitely do not want to teach full-time,(meaning early mornings) in huge classrooms. All I can really handle is part-time (meaning afternoons, evenings and/or weekends) in small, private schools.

If you mean by "qualified" , no, I do not have a legal teacher's licence in the U.S. or Europe. But I do have about 20 years teaching and tutoring experience mainly in Taiwan. I am from California (white male). I can easily tutor other foreigners in Chinese, but obviously not advanced level for which you would need a native speaker. I have taught other Americans French,Spanish and German as well.No problem.
