Hello good people of thaivisa i am really frustrated as my thai gf just got refused a second time for a uk tourist visa.

The first time we applied for a full 90 day visa, she works as a receptionist at fitnesfirst but was going to quit if she got the visa but got refused.

We been together for 3 years,She has her house in her name, has a new car but is still on finance, i provided a letter from my employer,i have 13000 pounds in my bank, i live rent free in my sister house which she also provided a letter confirming this and that we can stay there together, deeds for house in uk, a letter from me that i will sponsor her visit and all costs, western union transfer receipts since 2012, photos of us together and copies of our conversations online and a letter from my gf herself which stated she had to return to pay the house and car.

We provided all this documentation and possibly more that i cant remember right now but got refused because of lack of evidence of the time we have known eachother. Also my gf made a mistake by giving them a different bank account which didnt show her salary from her job. So they didnt believe she was in employment and wasnt granted leave for 90 days. Basically having no reason to return to thailand.

after discussing with other thai women even a local agency everybody told us we shouldnt have gone for a full 90 days but instead 2 or 3 weeks but stay the full 90.

So we applied a second time but this time we only applied for 5 days with all the above documents again but this time the correct account showing her salary plus a letter from fitness first saying they will allow her 5 days holiday.

On her application she said she would spend around 50000 baht in the 5 days but i am her sponsor, this time we got refused on the grounds she got refused previously for 90 days and now we applied for 5 days but didnt tell them why we changed it. Also that her salary is only 12000 per month and she stated her trip would cost £1000 equivalnt to 5 months her disposable salary so they dont beleive she is intending to visit the uk a visitor!

I would of thought a letter from her employer granting her 5 days leave is pretty obvious why we changed from 90 days to 5 days plus it was stated many times i would pay for everything including the £1000 cost so why are they saying about her salary!?

I dont know which direction to go now as ive provided all needed documentation or so i thought! Would really apprecicate some advise!

Excuse the bad grammar and wording im using a smartphone and my thumbs are quite large lol

Thanks

If you, or your girlfriend, are able to post the refusal notice, minus the personal details, we may be able to give a view.

I have to say that an agency that suggests your girlfriend applies for a entry clearance for two to three weeks and then to stay for three months is quite worrying.

The ECO might have thought that a five day visit half way around the globe was pretty unrealistic.

But as I say we really need to see the refusal notice before we can comment further.

How long was there between the applications?

From the basic information (house, car etc) plus employment it appears to me that you have given plenty of reasons to return so the problem may be more with the presentation of the application.

If a visa is refused it is really important to cover the reasons for refusal! Any changes must be clearly set out with an explanation to prevent the suspicion that you are trying to tick the correct boxes rather than presenting a genuine application.

I would be reluctant to fly halfway around the world for a five day visit! So might the ECO!

Thanks for the replies. I also thought they would think this would be suspicious but after the first failed attempt with house and car not being good enough i felt we didnt really have much of a choice and if they had a letter from her employer then they couldnt really refute it. Obviously i was wrong!

Im trying to get a picture up now but i just joined so im trying to navigate my way around.

We tried again about two months after the first refusal. The first date of refusal was 10/01/2014 and the second was 24/03/2014

I can see where the ECO is coming from, hot on the heels of a rejection for a 90 day trip, which is a long time for any visit, your girlfriend applies for a trip for five days. The ECO could be forgiven for thinking that this application was simply a ruse to get through the UK Border.

A five day trip half way round the globe is, in my view, as unrealistic as a ninety day trip.

The letter indicates that, on the evidence supplied, the proposed trip was unaffordable. You say that you were going to sponsor her, but there is no mention of any financial support from yourself.

If your girlfriend is going to reapply, as bobrussell points out, you need to concentrate on the presentation of the evidence.

Your girlfriend needs to convince the ECO that the proposed trip is genuine, affordable and that she is likely to return. If you are going to offer financial support then you need to satisfy the ECO that it's affordable and reasonable for you to do so.

Whilst each application is considered on it's own merits, any future application will need to overcome the reasons for refusal in the two previous refusals. The ECO may also be forgiven for thinking that applications for 90 days followed by one for 5 days seems like an act of desperation.
