Beerlao Lager off the shelf... Any ideas?

Featured Replies

I was hoping to tap in to the unlimited resource of wisdom and knowledge that is Thaivisa to ask if anyone knows a place in Bangkok that stocks Beerlao? I am either looking to buy a couple of boxes or a keg. Its for a BBQ tomorrow so need to pick up today really.

I would be extremely grateful for any ideas just about too venture out to Foodland, Tesco and Big C, not holding out much hope though.

Thanks in advance.

Good old Makro, plenty in stock!!

Try the Chinese family supermarket past The Emporium on Sukkumvit, but on the left going west. Its near Soi 49 just past the Rex hotel (on right side ) It had Lao beer and many other unusual beers and wines at good prices.

Tops, Sukkumvit Soi 19. Downstairs. Also have the dark version.

Cheers guys I did a few searches and tried Makro on Srinakarindra.. At first the drinks assistant said mai, mai, mot, mot.... Spent 2 minutes looking at the other beers and a woman pulled up with a pallet load of Beerlao Lager, got 48 bottles for 1,980 THB... not too bad I make it about 42 a bottle.

Happy Easter!!

What size bottles? 633 cc?

Mac

What are you BBQ-ing?

I wish, 330.

Still great beer though, hardly any hangover to speak of after 12 - 15 bottles, 2 bottles of Chang and im in pieces the next day.

Maybe this is a question for another thread but...

I was just up north visiting the in-laws; they live very near to the Lao border.

Secured both beer lao and lao dark from the Lao side

As a regular drinker of beer lao here in bkk I noticed that the beer lao from lao tastes much better than what you get here. Is it because what you get in Th. is brewed in Th, or just because the beer from lao is fresher?

Any thoughts?

It's simply because the grass is always greener at the other side.

The stuff i managed to get is definitely imported from Lao by CB Distribution Co, a Thai company.

If its anything like the distribution chain for Chang I wouldn't be surprised if some gets spoiled by heat. I doubt the lorries are air conditioned and from what i can see the its still brewed in Vientiane. Thats a long drive to Bangkok this time of year. There may be some real depth to what you are saying.

You could get on to CB Distribution perhaps with an order enquiry, ask for details of how they move the the beer from Laos as you are concerned about spoiling but interested in 2 or 3 pallets a week etc.

All this talk of beer, Think its time to crack an ice cold Beerlao, As my Dad would always say "its 5 o'clock somewhere".
