I would have preferred not knowing any of this and would have went with Hi and replied Hi back with a smile. My readings here on this form to date suggest to me a form of total disrespect for the people whose country has accepted us into it. The talking down about our hosts is impossible for me to fathom. Makes me wonder why you all left the comfort of your own countries. Oh yeah the 30 to 1 monetary ratio that is relative to the daily living in your homelands. Must be something to do with what this guy looks like because in over 20 years in Thailand, I've never ONCE had anyone shout 'ai farang' at me.

For the local tuffs, a quick, arai wa, krai mee panhaa, or aow mai usually does the trick.
