A passport with less than 6 months validity is, for all practical purposes useless, as most countries require more than a 6 month validity as a condition of entry.

But there is nothing which would prevent you applying for a re entry permit now. Just be aware that later in the year travel options will be severely restricted .

You could travel home with less than 6 months validity. !

Best get a new passport.smile.png

Do you have a OA visa or an extension of stay from immigration (it is not a visa).

You can get a re-entry permit with less than 6 months remaining on your passport but it will only be valid up to the date your passport expires,

Since you are a Australian you only need a passport with a validity equal to or greater than your allowed entry.

If you are on extensions of stay immigration will only give you a new extension equal to your passport validity if it has less than one year validity,

You should get a new passport before it has less than six months validity. There are many countries that require 6 months of validity. For example all of the other ASEAN countries require 6 months passport validity to enter.

Many countries recommend renewing your passport when it only has 9 months remaining.
